Is doing rack pulls above the knee fine for upper back?

Trying to work on my traps, but gym racks only go as low as right above my knee, if i stand on a plate the lift starts right on my knee cap and feels akward/ throws me off

I don't really ever feel traps being worked on rack pulls or deadlifts. Why not just do shrugs? Much easier...

you're stretching your traps under massive amounts of weight that you can't shrug when you do rack pulls/deadlifts

You do rack pulls instead of shrugs when you want to overload your traps with more weight than you can shrug, and also work grip and lower back

Also barbell shrugs are tough because unless you have a chitty range of motion and gorilla arms, the bar drags over your ding dong

I do rack pulls to help with lockout on deads (only done them slightly below the knee though). I can shrug pretty much the same weight on the smith machine or the hammer strength shrug machine, both are great for traps imo.

for upper back i dont think it matters where you pull from, it may only make difference for lower back activation

Starts fierce 5 novice log this week
    Already f*cking up the program

    (Palm over face)
There is literally nothing you can say that makes a rack pull a good addition to the program.
