English/Spanish crew checking in. Took a class in college and I live in Southern California so its practically native. Just built on my knowledge from college with speaking to people who speak spanish.

I took German/Latin in high school and college and lost them both (mostly). I wish I had to do that one over, and I would have done Spanish for 8 years. I'm trying to learn Spanish now, but it's a lot harder once you're older to retain the discipline to study.
It makes a little sense to take a foreign language you can actually use because you live near people who speak that language.
Both my kids know Spanish tho. IMO it would make sense to learn as many languages as you can and use.EX IGNORANTIA AD SAPIENTIAM

It's expensive and extremely time consuming to learn another language.
I started to learn Arabic several years ago when the Army provided Rosetta stone for free.Peace is a lie, there is only passion.
Through passion, I gain strength.
Through strength, I gain power.
Through power, I gain victory.
Through victory, my chains are broken.
The Force shall free me.

Lol. Fuk no. You can't force any thing on any one here. It's a elective you can choose if you want.
You can take it. But you can choose not to.
All the Mexicans from Mexico in my school always took Spanish classes. Easy a
Brb I would take English if I went to school in Mexico and fail. lolFew men have virtue to withstand the highest bidder.

I work with some primarily Spanish speaking folk. It has been easier for me to just learn some Spanish.
I wished I learn Spanish instead of German. I have lost most of my ability to speak German because I can never use it. I know plenty of fluent Spanish speakers where I could have been fluent in it by now.Rustling my jimmies brah?

Don't really see why you would need another language. In my opinion English is the easiest language to learn and it's kinda the Universal language aswell. I'm still surprised at how many people still can't speak some basic english. Tourists used to come to me and ask, Arabic? Chinese? Do I look like I speak any of those languages? lol (inb4 can't tell, cause of no avi).

yeah this is true, i'm pretty sure most foreigners that are bi/tri lingual learned their languages from elementary school and not on their free time.
in the US school system you don't even get the opportunity to learn a foreign language until highschool, and in most cases you only need one year of it to meet the requirement for graduation.
