So i have a liver disease called Gilbert's Disease. I am missing a certain liver enzyme. I am about to start Jim Stopanni short cut to size program. I was watching his supplementation video and he states that There are no studies to show creatine and related liver damage. I took creatine for about 3 months about 6 months ago and i saw my doctor after those 3 months were over. My Liver specialist doctor said that Billirubin levels had skyrocketed. I told her the only thing i did that was different was take Creatine. She said that because i gained weight fast and because i was using Creatine that is why my Billirubin skyrockted. And it was essentially damaging my liver. PLUS i was using Micronized Creatine which had smaller particles so it would be easy to digest by my liver? Im really confused if i should take Creatine again. It did wonders for me but it did damage my liver according to my Doctor. What should i do?? Is Jim Stopanni wrong by saying there are no linked studied regarding Creatine and liver damage?
PS. I experienced massive Bloating while using Creatine, it made me look fat, any idea why?

Any "wonders" creatine did for you were placebo - driven and/or a result of newbie gains that you inaccurately attributed to creatine.
A solid diet and proven training program will do wonders for you relatively speaking. Also, even if creatine made a huge difference, the fact that you're contemplating using it again at the risk of your liver leads me to believe your priorities are out of line.Staples:

Thanks for the feedback guys, its just i feel almost desperate. Ive been working out for 3 years and im not even big. It just dissapoints me. The main reason being i couldnt stick to a diet and i never did cardio. Im trying to do both now but i know its going to take awhile and creatine was the only thing that made me look somewhat bigger because of the water retention and it didnt even take a long time. I guess i was stupid for posting this

Check out the nutrition section. A lot of good info is there. Learning about macros and tracking will reap you much more success than creatine ever would. You'll be surprised once you start knowing how much you really eat compared to what you think. Also, don't know what your training is like but get on a good beginners program that will allow you to constantly progress and not just spin your wheels "lifting weights."

Creatine doesn't cause liver damage. Taking creatine when you have a preexisting condition that precludes taking creatine causes liver damage.
It's like saying peanuts are poison. No they aren't....unless you have an allergy, in which case they are.

I think most of us can relate to that feeling of desperation at one point or another so you're not alone there. It's great that you're asking for feedback but the important part is taking heed when solid advice is given. You're still young and should have many years ahead of you to make tons of progress. The key is getting the factors in line that actually can make a difference (proper training, nutrition and rest) now so you can optimize that progress.

Thank you guys so much for the feedback. Im going to take an extensive look at the nutrition section. Maybe the problem is im not eating enough and i know for a fact im not eating the correct food. Im glad i didnt go back on creatine because i was going to and then some real liver damage could of been caused but you guys prevented all that so thank you so much.

You pretty much gave yourself one half of the answer there. You need to eat well to get big. Creatine wont make you big, eating will. I would talk to your doctor/specialist before taking any supplements again. Always trust your doctor over what someone on the internet says. At the end of the day your life is in their hands, they have some moral responsibility over what happens to you.
In regards to getting big, I would head on over to the nutrition section and calculate how many calories your body needs based on your daily activities. Get your nutrition in check with healthy foods, (again consult your doctor if your liver is a serious issue.) And Cardio will not help you get big, it will help shred fat. However if you want to try keep fat off, add in a HIIT routine once a week which will help keep existing muscle, and burn fat and then do resistance training (lifting weights) for the rest.
Good luck.
