I have my DVR set up to tape this, I just watched the finals from 2014 (I think, it might be 2013) and these guys are very impressive. It's unreal just how big these guys are...I mean Brian Shaw is like 6'6" and weighs like 430lbs and on some of the movements he actually looks pretty athletic. He did the keg toss in like 19 seconds. It's just pretty cool to watch.

They showed it a lot on TV here some years ago and everyone seemed caught up in it, especially when there were many
Scandinavians in the top. Seems to have died down since then or maybe I'm just not keeping up with the times and they send on
some premium sports channels.
Some 2014 clips on this page:

I haven't seen much of it except on vids...no cable television for me over here (Japan). I respect all of the athletes tremendously. They really seem to do the impossible.

this is a great short documentary (about 20 minutes) on Strongman and specifically Iceland's connection with it.

I watched every year back when homeboy Phil Pfister was competing (he won it in '06, IIRC).
I was very disappointed when Jesse Marunde passed away in '07, after finishing 2nd in 2005 at his very first shot at WSM. I was certain he'd eventually bring the title back to the US, but it was not to be.
R.I.P., Jesse. Gone, but not forgotten. No brain, no gain.

That guy was phenomenal. Had to go back and look to be certain, but he won WSM 5 times, a record. I recall an article in one of the muscle mags at the time where Pudz stated that his entire nutrition plan was based on sausages, potatoes, and chocolate. Probably a bunch of bs, but it was some entertaining reading.

He is Polish, that pretty much describes Polish food. I'll bet he has some cabbage in there as well.
I've gotten to meet Don Reinhoudt, the winner in 1979 and still holder of the all time Raw PL total record (they just didn't call it Raw back then). Perhaps the nicest individual human on the planet. We did a contest in his home town and he was there helping us all day, telling us stories about the old days. It was great.Gnomefit...ain't for everybody, only the sexy people.

if you get a chance to see the last competition watch the keg toss....the speed Shaw has when he's doing that is incredible. he's got the first 3 kegs off the ground and in the air in like 6 seconds and they fly over the wall. That guy is crazy big.
What I always liked about Pudginowski (sp) is he looked the part. the guy was a beast. Plain and simple. You saw him on the screen and you knew he was a tank.
