    Tearing a card deck

Was bored at work the other day and bought a deck of laminated cards to rip apart.

Wasn't as hard as I thought it would be.

It'd be like staying fat while running marathons because it's more impressive to finish a marathon when you're overweight. It might be impressive in the short run, but in the long run it just doesn't make any sense. ~breathinglife

Hey, I can do that. That and ripping phone books in half is a great party trick. I had a guy tell me he knew how to do it after watching me, but he couldn't understand that you also have to have pretty strong hands and fore arms

After I did that I went on youtube to find how to do this the easiest way. And the first thing I noticed is that I gripped the deck the wrong way.

Being strong helps, but they are feats of intelligence and can be accomplished by normal people with lots of practice. You were able to accomplish it on your first try because you resemble a gorilla and didn't need to learn the "trick" part of it. That part is impressive.

If the scrawny guy on Mythbusters can learn to tear phone books in half so can anyone else. Again, the difference is crazy strong guys like yall don't need to learn the technique. You can just brute force it, which makes it more of an actual feat instead of a parlor trick.

I know for a fact that you only need moderate grip strength to rip a phone book in half. though my friend to do it and when he got it right it was no problem for him. Not as easy as I do it but still not bad.
