    5/3/1 vs other linear programs with my stats

    Hi all,

    I'm currently doing Wendlers 5/3/1 with the BBB lifts.
    I'm not the strongest dude, and I progressed good so far with 5/3/1, but it gets harder and harder... Thats why i'm wondering what you guys think, would I benefit more from another program?

    My Maxes for the next cycle are:

    Bench Press: 110 KG (this would be 1RM week 105KG) / 230 lbs
    Squat: 163 KG (this would be 1RM week 155KG) / 340 lbs
    Shoulder Press: 71 KG (this would be 1RM week 67,5KG / 148 lbs
    Deadlift: 194 KG (this would be 1RM week 185KG) / 405 lbs

    And in my last Cycle 1RM week I did following Reps/weight

    Bench Press -> 102,5KG x 2 Reps
    Squat -> 150KG x 1 Rep
    Shoulder Press 65KG x 1 Rep
    Deadlift -> 180KG x 2 Rep

    As you can see I'm not able to do more than 1-3 Reps in my 1RM week... next week is cycle 6.
    Do you think I should continiue with 5/3/1 or should I switch to a faster progressing program?
    My main goal is both, Strength and Muscle mass, currently im bulking at 3400cals, 5'11, 86 KG

    Thank you

    Keep with 5/3/1 As long as you're getting your required reps you're good to go. Once you start missing reps then you need to look at going back a few cycles and building it back up.

    OR...and this is what I would do. Take your current 1 and 2 rep maxes and base your training maxes off of that.

    So 102.5 bench would be a TM of 92kg, etc...

    If 5/3/1 is getting hard for you now with it's slow progression...doing something like Madcow's or Texas Method will be much harder with weakly progression.
