    Flaxseed vs fish oil?

    Hey guys.
I wanted to start taking a supplement high in omega 3/6/9 and was wondering what's better flaxseed or cod liver oil (fish oil)
Can someone explain the main difference and tell me what's better please.

IIRC The fats in flaxseed are not as bioavailable, nor are they the type that we need, so our body needs to convert it, which it is not great at.
I'm the clever one, you're the potato one.

My doc said Fish Oil is much better, but when there is the fasting period you should take flaxseed.

    God Bless

Flaxseed contains alpha linolenic acid (ALA) which is a EPA/DHA precursor. 1g of ALA will not convert exactly to 1g of EPA/DHA (which is what we want). You'd have to take in more flaxseed (and thus more fat into your diet) to get in an adequate amount of EPA/DHA.
