Growing up, I was never into boxing. Heard about Mohammad but was too young and never watched 90s Tyson. Ran across a couple of their vids online. Its crazy. Some people always say MMA is better and laugh at Boxing, but whatever they're immature and most likely not knowledgeable. Those who don't respect every sport aren't real fans anyway. Makes me want to find a boxing gym, even though know movement like that takes years. Any other boxers i can look up?

I love mma, but the finesse and subtleties of boxing makes it my favorite of the two. It is amazing how their is almost infinitely many different styles in a sport that is at its most general two opponents trying to punch either more than the other. My friends hate on mayweather everytime he fights but I could watch him all day, he is a defensive genius.

youre fuking ignorant. srs
to call someone who likes mma more than boxing and saying they are immature and not knowledgeable is retarded.
thats like calling someone who likes football over soccer a dumbass, youre obviously immature and retarded.
they are two completely different sports and shouldnt be compared.

He's one of the many crooks that helped bury the sport.
Boxing also needs one federation or sanctioning body. Too many belts for each weight class and too much confusion. Should have one belt for each class, but things are so out of control that it's probably too late to change any of that. They also need heavyweights too, but those guys are now playing football and basketball. Chits dying and I don't think it will ever recover.

It requires a high degree of both intelligence and athleticism. Yes, there are brutes out there who rely solely on their athleticism like George Foreman (power) and Wladimir Klitschko (size) but to be a legendary boxer, you need a large variety of skills to excel at the top.
Football, basketball, track and field, etc etc mostly require athleticism, there's not as much going on in those sports.
Even if you just look at the training, it's brutal. Boxers at Floyd's level easily run 8 miles/day at a 5-6 minute/mile pace. Then there's sparring, weight training, diet restrictions to maintain weight class, and so forth. Then take the actual fight. You have a strategy to follow but then again, you're getting hit, so you have to fight your will to give up (heart) and keep going. Joe Frazier said that at the end of the first Ali fight, he legit thought he was going to die. Rocky Marciano routinely broke fighters jaws, ribs, he even put Carmine Vingo into a coma. There's a lot that it takes to be a great boxers, a lot of factors and tasks that need to be juggled around at the same time. It's much more complex and multidimensional than any other sport.
