    Planned my first show

Well I decided to compete in June 15' at the Louisville, KY show. Now I have to pick a trainer soon. How far out would you guys suggest I start prepping to begin with?

Honestly, I would start your prep as soon as possible--just to get within striking distance. Who have you looked into for coaching thus far?

It all depends on what condition you're in and how far off your estimated stage weight you are. Most natural competitors will diet for at least 20 weeks for a show. Personally I try to give myself as much time as possible and last time around that ended up being 28 weeks total.

^ This is very good advice. I am prepping for my first show right now and underestimated how much weight I needed to shed. Luckily life events took place and I was forced to pick another target competition, giving me additional time to prep. It will be a 29 week prep for me when I get the stage in late April.

Yes. OP, listen to this. Give yourself extra weeks that you don't think you will need. You will end up needing them and won't regret it. That's the situation I found myself in recently.
