Well, upon looking at the video, I blame the Ward kid 95%. As far as I could see, Stewart did nothing wrong in the 'incident' where Ward spun out. Then Ward gets out of his car on an ACTIVE PHUCKING TRACK, and starts walking down the middle of the track all pent up with teenage angst. He almost gets cleaned up by another car before he gets in the way of Stewart. Didn't look like Stewart aimed for him, and surely such an experienced racer would know better (I'm Australian so don't watch or care for NASCAR obviously, so I could be wrong).

The other 5% of blame I assign to Stewart for not just stopping or pulling over or something when Ward was walking down the track.

Edit: you can hear a motor rev up just as Stewart hits the dude? Is that Stewart's engine, or just one of the other cars out there?

I concur. This is sad, and everyone should be on high alert about the track, but this guy WAS WALKING TOWARDS ONCOMING VEHICLES(RACE CARS).
