@OP, i did the opposite. Grew up in anti-gun Northeast all my life. Moved to Florida last year and the day I got my Drivers License, I went to the gun store and picked up an XD-40. felt good man

I am completely ignorant on the laws in California. The tiny bit of research I did makes it seem that the hard stance on guns was taken when a new sheriff was put in charge. Are there any counties in Southern California that have more relaxed gun laws or is it state wide?

Its nice knowing you dont have to be a victim to any jackass that wants to impose his will upon you. I was born in California, could not get a concealed carry permit in the county I was born in even tho NO criminal record of any kind, and police response time in the county I was born is 11 minutes. Know what a felon can do in 11 minutes?

I do. I worked bail bond fugitive recovery here in Washington state for 2.5 years.

county-specific. Up north it's basically shall-issue. All the best living counties are hardcore liberal though.

Highly populated counties (western most near SF and LA) have NO ISSUE rules in place. You cant get one, unless you are a celeb like Sean Penn. However, my brother lives in a rural county east of Sacramento and he has a permit which is good throughout the state. If you live in rural, you can likely get one. Urban counties, no.

I have carried for over 10 years, have never pulled it, but almost did a couple of times.

Worked 2.5 years in bail bond fugitive recovery where I carried a pistol and tactical shotgun and never shot anyone. Never even threatened, so that kind of deflates your 7th grade attitude doesnt it?
