I'm surprised this hasn't been discussed in here already..
If you haven't seen the video yet:
Notice that as soon the officer brings Garner to the ground his hand is outstretched in an compliant, non-resistant manner. He says "I can't breath" at least 10 times while being choked and sat on with no acknowledgement of his desperate pleas. To me it's pretty simple- if you are choking somebody who is telling you that they can't breathe, don't be surprised if you choke them to death.
http://www.nbcnewyork.com/news/local...269396151.htmlThe medical examiner said compression of the neck and chest, along with Garner's positioning on the ground while being restrained by police during the July 17 stop on Staten Island, caused his death.
I know that any defenders of the NYPD's actions will probably harp on the fact that the coroner also noted that Garner's obesity, high blood pressure and asthma may have been contributing factors; while this is true, it is not an excuse for continually choking and sitting on somebody who is verbally making it clear that they cannot breathe.
All this being said, I do not think that the cop intended to murder this guy, but he pushed the envelope by using an illegal tactic and by not heeding the pleas of a non-resistant man that he was suffocating. I think at the very leas this warrants a second degree manslaughter charge, also known as "involuntary manslaughter" (carries a sentence of 3-15 years). However, I really have lost all faith in the system and I don't think this will be the case.

Maybe American cops are different idk but everytime I had to deal with cops in Canada they all seemed pretty good. Maybe if I wasn't a white guy in Canada it would be different.
Also the reason we all see so much now is because every person in USA has a cellphone with a camera.***Canadian Crew***
