she's 60 and 500 pounds, if it was me, I'd just say fugg it and stay heavy and keep eating like a happy pig, sadly at 60 and 500 pounds, her days on earth are few, even if she lost the weight, the years of abuse on her body and organs are probably irrevesrable and permanent.
If she is truly unhappy, then eat less, I hope and wish the best for her. Let her know about MyFitnessPal. And get rid of the enablers feeding her!!!!!Last edited by HILMAN76; 07-31-2014 at 06:14 PM.

since she is confined to the bed, tell the person who ever is buying her food and feeding her to stop giving her so much, then take away her phone and block all food delivery services .

Direct her to WetBreasts's thread. Beyond, she's going to have to come to terms that weight loss will be a marathon, not a sprint. Sadly, the overwhelming majority of people (~95-98%) who try to lose weight through conservative measures (diet and exercise) will end up gaining it back again.
For her to become part of that 2-5%, she needs to build the motivation. At 60 years old, people are usually stubborn and entrenched into their habits, so she could be a hopeless case. Just being straight with you.أشهد أن لا إله إلاَّ الله و أشهد أن محمد رسول الله

I think this would be a good idea. If she could eat 1,500 calories for a couple of days, and drop a couple of pounds of water weight, maybe this would motivate her and then she can start a more realistic diet.
How can she weigh herself though? She said last time she tried at the doctors, the scale didnt go high enough....I got this icebox where my heart used to be

there are two choices here and you must confront her like this
either she can continue living like an blob of lard, probably stuffing fried chicken down her gob and eventually her artiries will give way and she'll need a crane too hall her heavy ass too the graveyard
or she can get fucking motivated, eat clean food, mainly fruits and vegetable, avoid all fats, do as much physical activity as possible, eg arm raises, walking, swimming etc and drop weight down too a level where she can have lap band surgery.
i think we both know which path shes gonna choose thoughReach your potential

go to her house and throw out all of her chatty food, i can only imagine what someone has to eat to maintain 500 lbs.
Then restock it with literally anything other what she has in her cabinets.
Also if she can barely get to the bathroom, who is cooking for her. Find that person and beat them senseless and replace that person with a monkey who brings the woman literally anything other than what she is eating
also this thread could be renamed "How can't a 500lb woman lose weight?"

I'll let her know about myfitnesspal. She cant walk at this point. It's too much weight for her joints and she cant keep balance.
her sister gives her food, and the neighbors are paid to cook for her because she can't walk. Some neighbors tried to help her cooking healthy but she didnt want it anymore
She wants to start again...I got this icebox where my heart used to be

"But she quickly gives up." That is cruz of the situation right there. Being sedentary in bed is probably the major cause of this. Find simple repetitive tasks to do each day even if it is lifting legs with ankle weights on them. Come up with a progression program that in effect sets a PR every workout just like a beginner linear progression lifting program does like StrongLifts. So. something like 1lb weight x reps, next workout 1lb weight x+1 reps, after a few workouts go up a lb and drop back to the original rep, work up to max rep from previous weight
The main goal here is to get to the point that she can walk. Then start progression program with walking.
The fastest way to lose weight is to fast. It is also the fastest way to gain weight once your are done with the fast so there is a big grain of salt with fasting. To give you an idea I have lost 29lbs in 8 days and 39lbs in 13 days weighing in the 300's. She would lose probably more.
The Lemonade fast/Master Cleanse would be an option, it is what I have used. Lemon juice, maple syrup, pinch of cayenne in water. You can drink "unlimited" amounts of it. Be sure to use Grade B Maple Syrup. Grade A light and dark is too enticing and will be much harder to complete successfully. Grade B is not a picnic almost a sickening sweet taste to it. You will learn to hate it. Hate it with a passion. After a couple days on the fast I will cut back to one large glass and sip throughout the day.
If she can make it 5 or 6 days she will find out great benefits to fasting. You will feel very euphoric. Your body is rejoicing at all the crap that is leaching out. Most evident on the tongue. She will definitely want a tongue scraper. The tongue will be covered in much muck; visual evidence of how well fasting works. The brain will be so alive that you will feel like you can accomplish anything.
Breaking a fast. Always break at night. Breaking a fast will bring on a hunger like no other. The lesser amount of time before going to bed when breaking the fast the better. Means less time to overeat.
Fasting is not a good long term solution to weight loss, but it can open someone's mind to the point that they can lose weight. Once someone discovers they can lose weight more traditional methods could be introduced as the confidence factor goes up.

Someone that large can benefit from a strict, large caloric deficit. Studies have been done where people like this have been placed on extremely restrictive diets, and have lost tons of weight while maintaining their health and becoming healthy. 500 calories, and a multi for 30 days and then reassess.
If she's confined to her bed, she can't get up to get food, so put her on a diet, and make sure no one brings her food.

When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.

Honestly I'm more rustled at the people who enable her and feed her. She is going to die before 70 almost guaranteed at this rate.
Cook healthy for her and cut the portions in half. If she doesn't want it, do NOT give in; let her starve if she doesn't like the food - it's her choice. She will start eating real quick as almost no humans have the will power to go on a real hunger strike.
It's better to watch her cry over not getting to eat a tub of Snicker's Ice Cream than to watch her cry because she's actively killing herself.
