I just lost all respect for this dude.. He dishonors all SEALs, all members of the Special Operations community, and all who wear the uniform..

To thine ownself be true..

Well....
IMO....
I guess I'm not the brightest bulb but from what I've read about this on the news lately I don't know what to believe from either one.
I do know this....I would not write a book to include making negative comments disrespecting those (especially SEALS) that had the courage to give the feds a blank check and serve honorably.
Guess I'm only good for a bump.
Carry on....Last edited by Wayne Evans; 07-30-2014 at 10:50 AM.

We dont know if he said it or not.
He claims he did not and had witnesses who were able to back him up, and he was able to convince a jury.
He is a former SEAL himself and claims to have a high regard for current and past military.
we only have a dead mans word that its true.
he started the suit before the guy died.
I would want to clear my name if I were him, but I would hate to be suing the estate of someone who had died like that also.

I don't understand why he is in the wrong just because the author was killed. The suit was filed before Kyle's death and I am sure the Ventura story drove book sales quite a bit.
What Kyle claimed he said is completely out of character of Ventura and I can't blame him for wanting the story corrected.
And it was the jury that determined what the defamation cost him.Boomer Rep Crew #1

Doubtful that Kyle could have substantively defamed Ventura any more than Ventura has already sunk his own reputation through his actions and statements these past many years. That said, he won the suit. Assuming it's not appealed and the monies are paid, it would be respectable if Ventura donates it, perhaps across many organizations - USO, Wounded Warriors, Intrepid Fallen Heroes, Fisher House, etc.

Just out of common decency. You really want to bankrupt a widow w/children over this? That is a much bigger black mark on Jesse's character than allegedly ripping the SEALs.
As part of this suit, Jesse's tax returns were presented for the last 5 years in court. He made $11 million in 2009 alone. I think he'll be okay after what this "cost" him........

He only convinced 8/10 after much deliberation, the dumb a$$ attorney for Kyle allowed them not to have a unanimous decision. Also he was asking for 5 million for libel and 15 million for some other legal term about ruining his rep. He's a c0ck for suing his widow. I would tombstone him, but then he would sue me. Lucky part I read is the money will most likely be paid out of insurance that Harper Collins, the book publisher has.

I don't want to come across as heartless or anything here, it's terrible that she has been widowed. But he's not bankrupting her - Kyle and now his estate, has earned somewhere between $3 and $6M dollars from the book plus future royalties. As well as the money the estate will be getting from the upcoming movie.
As for your second point, I don't think it's about the money so much as his character. Despite the negative feelings the case has had against them, at least they are known to be true. At one point he was considering dropping the suit, but a lot of other vets - including the owner of the bar where the alleged incident took place - encouraged him to continue it because they felt it was the right thing to do.Boomer Rep Crew #1

People are going to side with the deceased author's perspective now BECAUSE of this lawsuit result, brah. That's what I'm saying.
He should have quietly dropped the suit after the murder, but still maintained a staunch denial of the incident--and this would have eventually went away. Ventura is a fkn punch-line in this state (MN) and across the country anyway. That's why he's such a POS for doing this.

it's a rare occurrence due to the untimely death of the author - but estates are held liable for defamation.
The book's sales skyrocketed after Kyle said it was Ventura (he wasn't named in the book, but Kyle ID'd him on the Opie and Anthony - who have a grudge with Ventura) I think that was the main point for the jury.Boomer Rep Crew #1

That's right, with the men dead---the next step is to rape and pillage the women and children, I forgot.......
Jesse didn't have to take this next step, that's the difference. He made the conscious choice to continue the lawsuit. He'll burn for that in the court of public opinion, which is ironic, since that is what suing for defamation is trying to preserve. Guy is a complete r-tard. No way around it.
