Okay guys and girls. I need your help. I'm looking to add vanilla protein to my cooking recipes. As far as I can tell, it is a challenge coming across a real "smack in the face" GOOD vanilla protein powder!
SO, what are you guys thinking?
What is the best tasting Vanilla Protein Powder out there?

Optimum nutrition Gold Standard vanilla ice cream is my favorite for mixing/ taste. It doesn't make my insides cringe like some others do. I've used it in recipes that don't require baking - like using it as a replacement for milk powder. That's a tough one man though when it comes to introducing a heat source... Just kills protein.. But for shakes and oatmeal, I recommend gold standard. Mixes awesome in a shaker.

I'm not a fan of vanilla protein, but I also recently started cooking with it. BPI whey-hd vanilla caramel is pretty good for that. Something about the texture just makes cooking with it much better
People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually, from a nonlinear, nonsubjective viewpoint, it's more like a big ball of wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey stuff.

What do you guys mean by "Unique texture" In my experience that can mean only a few things, it is extremely thick, foamy, or grainy.
Also, I see that the Vanilla caramel flavor has very good ratings and the price is also great for the 5lb jug. Have either of you baked with this or used it in breakfast foods such as pancakes, waffles, muffins..
Any examples/experiences to share?Competitive powerlifter

Thanks Rob, I'm taking the smart route right now. I am going to buy two 1/2 servings packets of pronom cupcake badder and a whey hd trial size vanilla caramel (bogo).
I'm going to let this run a little while longer and if the options are staying close to the recent suggestions of CL and Whey-HD, I'm checking out!Competitive powerlifter

I think it needs to be mentioned here cooking with vanilla - I would not worry about the flavoring so much as texture using blends over say straight whey, they tend to hold more water leaving a more moist pastry/bread. To add to this using other spices etc will likely greatly over power any off flavor from the vanilla such as Quick Breads or Muffins.
If you were to make icing/frosting you would likely be or should be adding pure vanilla exact or paste which is far more complex in flavor. None of them are going to taste like vanilla bean/extract due to the cost of vanilla it is the 2nd most expensive spice in the world.-- Microwaves everyday crew --

Whey-HD contains GMS, this is what provides the unique texture to our protein. It's a little heavier than most powders but the super smooth and soft texture is what separates it from the rest. I find it makes a great bowl of proats, also checkout Superhuman's Whey-HD baking thread

I know it wont taste like vanilla extract, but I have cooked with protein powders before. Not vanilla, but cinnamon swirl, chocolate and so on.. And they always taste the same as when its mixed in water and when its in a pastry or pancake. The same flavor that comes out when mixed in water comes out when its mixed in a badder.
