Your thoughts on men hitting women

After reading the thread here in the OV35 about Ray Rice, I thought I'd start a thread on this subject.

As most of you know I have anger issues, I am quick to hit/fight any man without a second thought.

Yet in all my years with my wife I have never EVER put my hands on her, in fact the thought alone has never crossed my mind.

In my life I have been slapped, punched and kicked by the women/girlfriend/wife of men I have beaten and I have never hit them back. I have held their arms or pushed them away and ran as to not get hit any more by them, but I have never hit them back.

As a man, what is your take on men who;
1. Men who hit their wives/girlfriend/SO
2. Men who hit women back after the women hit them first.

1. Morally reprehensible utter douchebags.
2. Depends on the situation...a woman physically going ape sh*t on you might require a slap to clear her senses but that is a last resort.

In jr. high school I had a crazy bish kick me in the nuts...so I kicked her in the cooter.
The favor returned in kind I walked away and to my knowledge she never tried that again with anybody.
Problem solved.

Of course not, it's the blatant imagery depicted in prime time television shows that is portraying abuse like this and causing the younger generation to think this sort of behavior is acceptable. You'd never see Mister Rogers doing something like this.

1. Sick Individuals.. I try to tell my wife that she was not to blame for the abuse her ex put her through.. She still thinks that she must have said or done something to warrant it.
2. Like they teach in martial arts, for defense do just enough to subdue the situation.. If a woman was going to hit me, I would try to restrain her some how with out hurting her, or leave until she calms down

Even though my sister used to whack me over the head with 1" diameter candy canes when we were kids, I never hit her back. My recourse was to tell her prospective boyfriends that she had cooties during her dating years. There's always an alternative to violence.

My wife and I had this discussion this morning. A man should never hit a woman but when a woman really hits a man she shouldn't be shocked if she gets hit back. Doesn't make it right I know theres guys out there that will hit a man back, not me!

Plus I think a lot of the time when a woman tries to hit a guy (excluding blind-side cheapshots)--they end up hurting themselves when the guy simply blocks it. I've had crazy ho's come at me several times and that pretty much has always happened. When an average sized chick (who doesn't lift) goes to swing at a big dude and comes up with nothing but forearm/elbow with it---it hurts (them). Only a coward would need to do more than simply defend themselves....

I having been in two physically abusive relationships have no tolerance for it. I was young then and the guys were complete fuking losers. I have gotten in between men and their GF/wife SO. I don't sit back and allow it to happen. I may get my ass whipped but I am damn sure not going to sit there and do nothing!

We all know hitting someone is wrong that's a given but that is not the question now is it. So what would you do or better yet what do you think a man should do if he were to get hit by a woman?

I don't know if it's a Italian thing but the women love to pick $hit up and knock you over the head with it. Well my sister decided it was time to hone in on her skills and she busted my head open with a brush ( yes it hurt & bled ). I grabbed her and slammed her against the wall....... to stop her is all.

Next few moments are fuzzy but it had something to do with dad beating me like a dog in the garbage can. I got f-ucked over that day but I sure as hell never touched another woman.

I am Italian and I don't bust people's heads open. Not that I never wanted to, but I have never actually done it. Adults should know how to control their anger, it's children that lash out without any self control.

The last time a woman hit me I restrained her gently until we both calmed down. I would never hit back but I am not going to just sit there and take a beating.

This seems to be going against everything in this thread, but understand I come from a younger generation (I'm 22) and I was raised in a traditional household (never lay a hand on a woman) but grew up in a society that consistently pounds women are equal to men IN EVERY ASPECT all the time.

Would I hit a woman unprovoked? Absolutely not. That is for *******s I would like to beat up, and have taken care of a few in my time.

Would I hit a woman if she started hitting me? Depends on the situation. If a woman is bold enough to hit a man, she's bold enough to deal with the consequences. Women are equal right? They can't have their cake and eat it too. Women don't want to be treated like ladies anymore.

The idea that any 2 adults would raise any conflict to violence is far beyond my thinking....men hitting men women hitting men....what ever combination you can come up with is just such a lack of self control....I simply don't get how anyone can let it get that far....especially those in the 035 group.....there is always abetter solution than violence and I'm not impressed by anyone who thinks the ability to raise violence to a higher level is some kind of accomplishment....It's not it show a true lack of self control and the inability to know right and wrong.....Hitting anyone is wrong period.....

Yes this. Adults feel strong emotions, but if we got to our age without knowing how to deal with them, that's some wasted years of life right there.

Those of us who were raised well automatically regard any violence towards a female as a no go area, our fathers, mothers, family, community and media drummed it into our heads from an early age. While I have never done it (despite being hit numerous times by women and gf's) and probably never will I have a different opinion on the matter now to what I had when I was younger. If you want to stick to old school ideals fine but imo if a female hits you like a man and continues to do so put her on her ass. If she hits you once and leaves it at that then she is no longer an aggressor and you can take it on the chin or let the law deal with the matter but there is no reason why any person male or female should be able to physically assault someone simply because they have anger issues, they need to learn what it feels like to be punched back right in the face so next time they feel the need to put their hands on someone they might think twice.

Someone said in the last thread of this kind that his momma told him "if a lady slaps you, you probably deserved it but once she closes her fist she is no longer a lady".

Cliffs: Females shouldn't get free pass to take their rage out on others, they should have to face the same consequences we males do but wks enable them to pick fights and either win by no retaliation or further assault on their victim by wk proxy.

I agree on this. Would I hit a woman? No. If she were attacking me with a baseball bat? Chances are increased from 0% to 10%

For a brief time (2 years) I was a bartender in what could best be considered a "neighborhood dive". During that time I had to move, restrain, control, fend off or take down women to avoid being hurt myself. Those events usually happened right after having to deal with a drunk male. I never struck a woman in those situations but there were a couple of times when I could have justified it but would have felt bad about it.

I was a lot younger then and my personal policy is still the same now. Do.Not.Hit.Women.

I personally have not, though I did have to restrain my ex wife a couple of times while she was hitting me. Though I wouldn't do it under all but the most extreme of circumstances, I have no issue with someone returning the favor if they're struck first regardless of gender. You don't get a free pass to act like an ass and be violent just because you don't have a penis. Again, not for me, my upbringing is ingrained in me, but no one is obligated to act like me if they choose.

As for "there's no place for violence in a modern society." At any point in history it was always a "modern" society. Today is no different than yesterday or the day before. Human beings are violent animals. Woulda, coulda, shoulda all you want, but that's the nature of man.

I don't get in those situations and the way it's written is though 2 people are in some kind of a verbal conflict that then they raise to violence instead of walking away. Anyone who is jumped without provocation is going to defend themselves......

It hasn't happened and I don't go around expecting to nor do I look for trouble and if I think there's going to be I leave....I'm a professional musician who's has spent more time in bars than most of you yet I've never been in a fight or been jumped....how'd that happen..luck and the ability to know when to walk away
