Interesting read and puts some tangible validation to peri-workout carbs intake. According to the study, there was also a performance increase 2x over placebo. Blood lipids profile also did not seem to be affected to any significant degree versus placebo which would suggest that it may not impede fat burning.

Why would someone assume that intraworkout carbs would affect blood lipids?

Conventional wisdom is that carbs = insulin = blunted lipolysis, which means no fat being freed to burn as energy. Exercise itself greatly blunts insulin response though, from what I understand, which may mean that carbs very close to (or during) your workout don't have much of an effect on lipolysis.

Training fasted doesn't mean you're completely ineffective in the gym obviously. It's more of sub-optimal vs optimal. So if you can get proper nutrition in, you probably should, if you just can't, it's not a total disaster.
Btw, the study used dextrin I believe. So it's not even some fancy carbs product. 2x's performance increase including power output.Completed Logs & Reviews:

Time. I personally don't have the time before I train to seperate a meal and my PWO enough that the meal won't slow down the effects of the PWO. That's why I add additional BCAA's- been working so far. I guess I could get up earlier...but that sh!t ain't happening!
Also, I just want to be popular.I'm the clever one, you're the potato one.

I never said that. I just haven't bothered with powdered cards in a long time. I have taken them in the past, and felt it was a huge benefit. I do plan to get back to it though; the BCAA's are working, but I'm finding some days I still hit a wall where my performance starts to drop.
