So after the NFL handed down a 2 game suspension and Steven A Smith spoke on the issue(men can be provoked), the sports talk has been crazy with opinions on men hitting women and "being provoked". Shockingly, some men say it is ok to hit women, what is your take? Maybe i am old fashioned but i was taught it is a no-no and get the hell away! Opinions?

Ray Rice issue...

It's pretty easy to beat on somebody that's smaller than you. If you feel that's the best way you can resolve the situation, seems like you've got a pretty small mind.
That being said, I hate to say "never" to anything. If someone (male or female) feels the need to hit you like a man first, they've opened the door.
That didn't look like the case with Ray Rice, looked like he just lost his cool. She'll get hers though, he'll do it again and she'll take all his ****.Don't listen to me, I'm in terrible shape.

I am applying my disgust to anyone who does this. I don't have knowledge of all of them, but I see him as I do any other person who does what he did (POS). One slight difference is that the ordinary joe does not normally make tens of millions of dollars. IOW, his (RR) "penalty" will likely be more public image than financial overall, where as an ordinary joe's will likely be more financial. The joe may suffer in his inner circle, but he won't be protested or heckled at work, most likely.

I'm all about equal rights, so if a woman starts acting like a man and starts hitting, they have the right to be hit backed just like a man. Although I do prefer ladies to be and act like ladies and gentleman to be and act like gentleman. There are lines that ought not be crossed for a reason.
Fortunately, I've never had to go there and hope I never do so my opinion is probably BS since it hasn't been tested irl...which I am completely happy with.A man who views the world the same at 50 as he did at 20 has wasted 30 years of his life.

I got to thinking more about this today as I noticed it was on espm. Why would any of us think this would have turned out differently? Remember the "other" Ray who played for Baltimore and was involved somehow in that murder? Alll conveniently swept under the rug as he led his team to multiple Super Bowl victories and has since retired.

I recently was at the hospital with a family whose daughter was beaten by her boyfriend. He broke her nose and strangled her so violently that her tracha was damaged and her wind pipe was swollen. The guy was arrested and charged. He had to spend the evening in jail, then facred the judge the next day. He missed a day of work. When his work found out what he missed for, they suspended him without pay pending the outcome of his trial. He pled guilty a week later and he was fired.
Yes, average joe's do lose their jobs when they work for respectable and accountable people.

see now, this is EXACTLY like people: you are in Luxembourg: what do you possibly know about Ray Rice, THE MAN?
what do you know?
only this incident, right?
well: for those of us who know Ray, THE MAN, who know what he has been, what he has done in his community, and so on, and so forth, you look at this as a very unfortunate incident.....
was it shocking? yes....was it totally out of character for him? yes.....
but did it happen? yes......he has already done a LOT of making up for this in various endeavors, he HAS been suspended for 2 games, whether we may think it is enough or not, and his Girl DID go ahead and marry him, in spite of the incident....
Goodell is the only one who has looked at ALL of the evidence and has spoken to Ray personally along with his wife, and who has take the BODY OF EVIDENCE and arrived at this punishment, which , as I said, is only PART of the many things he had to do and has already done.....
Ray has been SEVERELY depressed and broken up over this whole thing and what it has done to his previously sterling reputation, not to mention, could have lost him his loved one.
Don't be too free to call people Pieces of Chit if you know nothing about them.....Lift as MUCH as you can, for as MANY reps as you can,
while in complete control of the exercise.

and don't anyone even THINK about saying that I am condoning violence to women....that is NOT what my rant is about....
my rant is about people across the globe or across the country who know nothing BUT what "sensationalism" appears in the papers and TV shows and then are ready to make qualitative statements about the life of a person of which they know NOTHING ABOUT....
for all the people ready to jump on the bandwagon with this and other things, think about incidents in YOUR life where you did some pretty stupid things that were not really who you were.....Lift as MUCH as you can, for as MANY reps as you can,
while in complete control of the exercise.

Here's the problem, Johnny:
I know a multitude of great men who have done great things for their communities their ENTIRE lives. And, you know what?
Not ONE of them ever smacked their wives or even pushed them. They also did not even consider knocking them the fuk out and then drag them on the floor like a dead dog.
Kind of makes me sick to hear all of these idiot rationales.

Things would change quickly with scum that like to beat women
trust me, my friend, because I can't reveal more, but Ray Rice is the FARTHEST thing from "SCUM".....and leave it at that....
he will have to work out the repercussions of it all...over a LONG period of time...which is what happens to ANYONE when they do something wrong or stupid and it has consequences that they have to live with , sometimes their entire life.Lift as MUCH as you can, for as MANY reps as you can,
while in complete control of the exercise.

buddy: my quote from above:
he will have to work out the repercussions of it all...over a LONG period of time...which is what happens to ANYONE when they do something wrong or stupid and it has consequences that they have to live with , sometimes their entire life.
let's let TIME be the judge of this....all I am saying....and don't let everyone who has ONE incident be lumped into the pot with habitual offenders...
even ONE incident of this nature is serious, I know....again, what he will have to live with almost forever....Lift as MUCH as you can, for as MANY reps as you can,
while in complete control of the exercise.

but I don't have a daughter! lol......
you know what it is, buddy, Ray is kind of a local hero in my parts and many of us know him or about him in one way or the other....it was a true shock for all of us.....I am hoping, as he is insisting, that it is a one time event....
as I said, Time will determine that......
I can tell all of you this: you wouldn't BELIEVE the grueling intense workouts he does...some real nasty tough stuff...guy works his butt off in the gym....Lift as MUCH as you can, for as MANY reps as you can,
while in complete control of the exercise.

What if Ronda Rousey or some 250 pound beast straight out of prison starts pounding on you and kicking you in the nuts and gauging your eyes? Let's say you are surrounded and legitimately can't avoid the situation and the woman is capable of inflicting serious damage unless you "neutralize" the threat? Are you going to hit her? I sure as hell am.
