I will be purchasing a competition set in the future.
I would like preserve these expensive items, minimize wear and tear, especially paint chipping.
Perhaps rubber/foam covered toaster rack and carpeted lifting platform may help in this regard.
Thoughts?

They're a lifting set. You can't be too precious with them because its useless. They lose paint on the bar and against each other and heavy drops will always happen. If you want to keep them nice and shiny you may as well not unpack them.
