"Today's young adults are on track have the lowest rates of marriage by age 40 compared to any previous generation. If the current pace continues, more than 30% of Millennial women will remain unmarried by age 40, nearly twice the share of their Gen X counterparts, according to a recent Urban Institute report.
And that could have serious economic repercussions for both the Millennials and the nation as a whole.
There are several reasons behind the plunge. The importance of marriage has been diminishing for years... "

This line of thinking is what the problem is. Most people have more love for their "stuff" that the actual relationships which is one cause of people splitting anyway. It screams selfishness.
It also goes both ways with a person wanting to hurt and take away everything from the other person.I would rather die than live my life in fear.- KSE
Don't Panic and always carry a towel.

no point in men getting married today
not with current no fault divorce laws. that plus child support, alimony, losing your kids
f*ck that. why should men get the short end of the stick?
bullsh*t
a guy here was a lawyer. he got divorced and the payments were crazy high, too much for him to afford. so he takes out loans and sells some stuff, enough to pay it for a few months. guy is low on money, so he sells his home. eventually he can't pay, his wife has him charged and he goes to jail. a few months after she drops charges and he gets out.
...but now he's f*cked. go to jail, lose your license to practice law. so he's a ex lawyer convict with alimony payments coming out the ass, obviously can't continue to pay, bitch has him sent to jail again
brb sitting in jail broke as hell with no job and no future, with no rights to see your children, all because your wife is a vindictive bitch
no, that is not selfishness. that is insanity.Last edited by justoutforarip; 07-21-2014 at 12:18 PM.

Do you know how you can keep from getting a divorce because your wife fuks around on you, you don't make enough money or your cawk isn't big enough?
Stop going out of your way to find shallow hoes. Seriously. Guys drool over obvious hoes...the strippers, the pieces of meat practically fingerbanging themselves on tinder, the girls that suck dick 10 minutes after they meet them...and then are dumb enough to marry these meatsacks and totally shocked when the hoe they married ends up acting like...a hoe

There's more to it than that. Guys culturally are taught to be able to support a family when they get married, especially the middle class guys. So with college grads working jobs that don't even require college, that's gonna put their plans to get married on hold.
Another part of it is increasing economic independence of women. They don't have to have a man be the breadwinner, so their being pickier about who to marry.
More and more people are graduating college and still living with their parents for financial reasons, so again they are waiting longer on marriage than before for that reason.
I'm sure what you say might have something to do with it, but there's no one single reason it's happening. There are a lot of things at play that are all pushing in the same direction.
And that's also part of it.
Another thing is the culture of divorce. A lot of people in the past simply REFUSED to get divorced for any reason whatsoever. They stuck together even if they hated each other. So some reasons for divorce and not marrying are good, while other reasons might be things most people consider bad reasons.

This.
Most divorce courts are happy to rake a man over the coals, sure. Doesn't matter if you find a woman worth marrying in the first place.

I think anyone with real assets, as in houses, automobiles, stocks, hefty retirement plans needs to consult with a lawyer and a financial planner before they ever consider getting married. Unfortunately, marriage stopped being about love a long time ago, it is now a financial contract that is heavily biased towards the woman. If you don't recognize that then you will probably get hosed by it eventually.

odds are you'll get divorced
and won't be saying those things when you do. brb child support to 6 of your conservative children and alimony .
divorce rate in latino (and many other communities) is basically non existant
latinos asians indians etc do not get divorced, at all. if it was similar for the white community, perhaps people wouldn't be so averse to marriage.

Meh, it's more of making a good choice and then handling it right.
I got 2 kids , married 15 yrs, nada real problem really.
Honestly if we were to split and each got half, I'll still be ok financially. I still know how to work. I'm pretty sure that won't happen with us though.
It was convenient to have her by my side taking care of me after major injuries.
Good families build each other up and help each other through rough times, good investment if done right.

On one hand that seems like a shame.
On the other most of this generation isn't fit for marriage anyway.
All it means for me is that I'd better make sure to leave this country before the demographic timebomb of aging barflies hits and they come for my family's wealth in an unruly mob armed with broken beer bottles and sharpened fleshlights and reeking of stale booze.

You sound like you have a good deal going, and you are resilient. Unfortunately, a lot of guys younger then you are not as resilient and would get totally ass ****ed if the **** hit the fan. I think it's more a problem with my generation going forward. Damn the internet!

@Renegade and justoutforarip, I appreciate the sentiment (srs), but there's no need to worry about me. The girl I'm going to marry is the antithesis of the feminist gold-digging harpies everyone is leery of.
