I was originally going to go with the Rogue Utility Bench but I am training to compete and someone pointed out it was 18" so now I am looking for a new bench. No less than 17" and no more than 17.5". I don't care about it being extremely heavy (preferable) or having wheels because this will not be moved out of the rack. Ever. Budget is around $200 before shipping as long as its not $125 shipping like Elitefts.
I was thinking the Pendlay Elite Flat bench as it seems to be highly recommended in this price point, but I can't find the dimensions. So…. what do you recommend?

The Pendlay Elite flat bench is 18" high. I recommend reading through the entire "Alternatives to Rogue flat bench" thread. It's presently just a few posts down the page from your post.

I don't want to start a new thread over one small question so I will just ask here. In regards to building a deadlift platform could I ONLY use Stall mats, rather than using plywood as well underneath the mats? My only concern is cracking the concrete if 4-500 pounds were to slip out of my hand mid-lift. Would just a 3/4" stall matt work in this situation?

Just saw the post beneath mine. Stay clear of TSS then. I used some of there equipment at a meet but didn't actually look for quality in their work.
I would go with eliteftsLast edited by 817boy; 07-31-2014 at 04:21 PM. Reason: just read the link throwaway3441 posted
It surprises me how many people refuse to buy equipment from Elitefts because its too expensive but they will buy equipment from their competitors, then continue to go on EFS website to educate themselves for FREE

I really, really liked the BM flat bench I had. The only reason I sold it was lack of space since I have two other FID benches as well. The combination of a long, wide pad with dense foam, 16" height, and a heavy frame sitting on three feet* makes it a no-brainer for me.
*Three feet makes it stable on uneven surfaces, and it also makes for easy foot placement since there's only one foot at that end of the bench."What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us." - Ralph Waldo Emerson
