All these guys have such Palumboism...it's disgusting...such thick waists in modern bodybuilding...and somebody needs to tell Kai
to ditch the stupid ponytail...phuck it looks silly. I wish they'd dial things back a decade or two...that's when the guys looked like
statues....not todays comic strips.

That's from the NY Pro. I think OP is probably talking about last year's Olympia where it was totally out of control. In this pic from the NY Pro, he looks fantastic cus his belly is only just a little bit distended.

There's 7 mandatories and his distension only shows in only 1 of them, it is inaccurate to say that it ruins his "whole physique", unless, as I've said, you're referring to the SC alone.

His gut looked great in 2012. He has problems with it when he spills over.

Honestly though, all the top guys have somewhat of a gut, which is what is off-putting about bodybuilding right now. You get rewarded for being big and they overlook that your midsection might only look good on stage in poses, or while you are holding it in from spilling out.

I think Arnold's suggestion of making a vacuum pose a mandatory might go some way to getting rid of the problem. Though it seems like the younger up and coming guys don't really have problems with it...like Ramy, Compton.

Younger guys haven't had enough time for their stomachs to grow. Shove down gallons of food for years and some gut growth is inevitable. And everyone wants super full and dry competitors, well guess how many carbs that takes? And guess what happens to 1500g of carbs when you're bone dry? Stomach bloat, poor digestion - it's a mess. I can't remember the exact shows, but Ben P proved this perfectly last year. He did a show, had a horrible gut, competed a week later and the gut was noticeably reduced. Why? He adjusted his peak. IIRC, one of the shows was the AC Brazil, but if someone can remember then the photos will show what I'm talking about.

Gaspari back in the day and of course Jay Cutler sucked it in pretty well for his Olympia wins (at least on stage). Ben Pakulski seems to have done the opposite in that it almost looks like he's pushing it out more.

Jay fixed his waist and distention to a degree. As soon as Ronnie was out of the picture, he seemed to focus more on his conditioning and his waist was noticeably smaller in his latter career showings.

So I would assume that it can be worked on.

Yeah he is so scientific about posing and definitely do not think it is a mind-muscle connection fault...its just that he has a gut. He needs to bring that in and I think he is aware of that.

Agree with all this except Rear Lat and Back Double. Swap those two around and you're right on the money.

IMO, Kai's BDB is marginally better than Phil's. The RLS is either equal or Phil's is marginally better.

Agreed, I can understand the supportive arguments being made for Phil's RLS, but I find them to be underwhelming comparatively speaking to what Kai has to offer.

In 2012, the judges gave the RLS to Kai and said that the BDB was even, but Kai would win it if he spread his lats more (if you recall, he hit his BDB in 2 different ways (squeezing traps/spreading traps))

Arching his back gives him a thicker look, it wouldn't be wise to drop that advantage.

It's not only his back, he's also exposing his pelvis outwards.

Kai has no middle back, traps or sweep to his triceps in that pose. He looks flat and incomplete.
