Doing what we love to do!
Daybreak from the cabin
An average Brown Trout for the week was 16-18". Biggest was a 21.5"
We hung rings from the back deck so Gen could work on her muscle ups
Surprisingly cool for mid-July...stayed in the mid-80's most days
A decent Brown that Gen caught. She bloodied his lip

Can't argue with this

congrats Big Sky Guy
how mant trout did you catch in total- from the description it sounds like the fishing was very good
all on the fly? wet or dry?
beautiful location for it
temp in mid 80s sounds comfortable to me - too hot and it become less enjoyable☻/

No doubt.
Those that were using lures such as spinners and spoons were catching 6-10 trout a day.
Fly fishing was a bit more of a challenge as the Yellowstone is running high. We tried both dry and wet. Very little action on the top of the water, despite a decent Caddis hatch. Running a prince nymph or a stone fly pattern on a dropper pulled a few more fish, but they were mostly whitefish. Only a couple brown and rainbows on flys all week, so I grabbed a spinning rod every now and again and threw some metal in the water and caught several in the 16-19 range.
We can keep 4 brown and/or rainbows per day and in possession, with 1 over 18". Cutthroat are catch and release.

Beautiful pics brother.
Still planning on heading up your way, just working out when. Recently headed over to Jackson, WY for a little bit, but didn't get all the way up to MT. Managed to cast some lines on the Snake though, in a few spots, and, even though the water was chocolate milk, landed (and released) some beautiful native cut-throats.
God's country for sure.
Will definitely give you a shout when we're heading up brother.

Absolutely.
Cabin was built by my mother and step-father for fishing, going into Yellowstone Park, holidays and vacations. Definite decompression when we are here. Closest Gym is 20 min away, but we typically take a break from everything except hiking, biking, fishing, snow shoeing or CC skiing. We may throw in a tabata of pushups, situps, air squats, pullups, or some such, and just hung rings on this trip so we can do dips and work on muscle ups.
Definitely one of our favorite things to do each year and we always bring our children to pass it on.Journal- One of the Ogres
