Yes....BUT....I must admit, I just read the quote below and didn't think much about who it applied to.

Do wraps make it that hard to hit depth? All 3 of them bury their squats with just sleeves but they cut them noticeably higher with wraps, especially Jr. Ive never used them before.

I wasn't discounting the advice at all... I like understanding why things work as they do, not to mention it helps with my knowledge for professional purposes.

Just called and wanted a refund because they changed the date from Oct 11 to Oct 25, and I can't do the new date cuz of school stuff.

How they don't offer refunds for changing dates is idiotic, but I bet if they have that policy, you probably agreed to it somewhere. I'd be curious if they change dates often and make a bunch of money off people that don't even go to their meets.

I just looked it up, and on the online form (that I completed, and paid through using a credit card) it doesn't say anywhere that they don't do refunds, but on the physical mail-in copy that you can print out and send in, it says no refunds will be given for any reason.

call the credit card company and tell them to withdraw the charge. they may be able to help. a lot of credit cards have all kinds of consumer protection built in.

Definitely do this. I know for a fact AmEx would refund your money then go deal with RPS themselves.

That's a really chitty policy to have, no reason to screw the lifter, especially with a date change.

That's ridiculous about the RPS meet. Most powerlifters travel for meets, so that's a terrible policy to have if you're going to change meet dates--very unprofessional.

At the very least, if they are unwilling to give a refund and you don't want to burn bridges, see if they can give you a credit for a future meet. If not then definitely reverse the charges.

Oh I think being smart has a lot to do with it. He's just not quite as smart as some other guys out there. For some reason the name Norris pops into my head. Weird.

As far as I know, Chuck Norris hasn't lifted under those same conditions for a few years now.

Regarding Mike T., aren't you guys forgetting a pretty huge variable--that the IPF cut the weight class he competes in from 275 to 264 lbs? That's a pretty big difference. He's arguably just as competitive as he ever has been in the new weight class. The other guys who have stayed in this class are totaling less as well--it's only common sense that you'd lose strength weighing in 11 lbs lighter. I know if feds cut the 198s to 187s I'd lose a lot on my total.

If his name was Mikhail Tuscheronov and he went from pulling 800lb for a triple in training to failing to pull ~800lb at raw worlds last year and benching 440 for reps paused in training to barely benching 445 in meets, there would only be one reason people would think of. All of that was years after the weight class change and he's been training with the eleiko bar for some time now.

November 8th USAPL state meet is at JON gym at OSU. Come to that one. I should get 1400+ since I'm not gonna come in skinny. Plus I actually lift at that gym everyday so I better do well.

Fine, but that doesn't really answer the question I was addressing, which is whether Mike T. has been doing worse or better over the years, and why. People are simultaneously implying that Tuchscherer is taking things that would get him banned in the IPF, and at the same time claiming that his total has gone down over the years, but these two things aren't really connected. Even if he was breaking the rules, that wouldn't explain his total going down over the years. It would just explain a discrepancy in training numbers vs. competition numbers. Thus, one can look to other factors as well--training, changes in IPF competition, etc.

Same here. I always perform terrible. I'm just much more comfortable lifting in my normal environment. It's just something I need to work on.
