I strongly recommend hook grip especially if you're using a deadlift bar. There's no way any man's hands get smaller than mine. I've held around 700 lbs in my hands with hook grip just to hammer it home. I did that when my max was low 500s because I wasn't convinced in my grip a couple weeks out from my meet a while back. I loved mixed grip but due to adhesions in my left arm hook grip seemed like a smart route to take. Having my right arm as the under hand didn't feel natural and at this point I'd pull hook even if I didn't have the adhesions

I dug around a little and at least the persona is real. The videos look like the same guy on YouTube so I assume it is legit. There are a few videos of him on his busa. Apparently a software designer/developer in Washington. Google his username. He is very well spoken in the thread and other things I have seen posted on other forums or reviews were just as eloquent. Being a software guy explains why ModBear noticed his IP bouncing off of a crazy server.

I could never pull hook. My brother pulls a lot that way, but his thumbs are much bigger compared to his other fingers than mine are. I think that could be part of the reason.

Differs from person to person. I think it has to do with where you get the hook set on the thumb and where the nerve is at which also differs from person to person. It's always been painful for me and hasn't gotten better. I still use it for all singles and some doubles/triples but usually use straps for reps.

holy crap your lifts have improved a ton since you first posted in the video section, gj
A dude argued with me this morning that up to two (yes two) slingshot is still raw. Not the "level" or anything, actually wearing TWO slingshots. "Just there to protect your shoulders" he said...
You didnt have a meet planned soon?
Also fam, 640lbs pulls went well
Best total: 1715 (600-415-700) raw with wraps.
A method behind madness....

Ya that could be.
Says the guy that is quitting strength sports to become a body builder. I do agree though. Hook grip seems unnecessary.
I don't really engage anything when I pull but I do know it does feel weird. Prolly cuz I'm thinkin bout my stupid grip instead of just pulling it off the floor.

That's rough brah. At least you know you can pull it now.
Got my new rageX in to replace the old loaner shirt ive been using. We so excited
Harris stability is out of Aus and sponsors strongmen and GPA/GPC lifters, I think they're taking a page out of SBD's book with the logo'ing.
I just realised the other day how much money SBD must be making. Every single person in my club gym was either wearing them or had a pair or two. At a hundred bucks a pop there was probably close to 2000 dollars just in knee sleeves between us. Raw my ass. Pretty ridiculous considering you may as well just get a wrap at that point.Last edited by 308smk; 10-30-2014 at 11:04 AM.

If you guys can handle dairy well, there's a brand of Greek Yogurt called Source, it's like a sub company of Yoplait or something, and they sell 500gram tubs and the tub has 40g of protons, so pretty solid protein for a tasty snack. You might not poop for a day if you have more than one in a day though..

There's an all-you-can-order tempura/sashimi/sushi place 5 min from my gym. I hit it up at least once a week.
I'm gonna make it
