Well the one thing that I know messed with either Tee Cummins or Ben Seath was that they wanted you to take the entire hour to lift. So your warmups are slow and rest between sets is not what you are use to.
....even that isn't too bad....but let's not have to have an adult conversation here.
Yeah, he may not have hit 705 now that I think about it, but when he was shaking really bad with 585, you could see it wasn't his day.

so whats the consensus of speed work here? i know most conjugate guys swear by it, and ive used it in my training
http://jtsstrength.com/articles/2013...k-doesnt-work/
he defines speed work as anything less than a 7 RPE, but even with a submaximal load all my sets feel like RPE 10 because im so focused on accelerating the bar

I don't know what everyone else thinks. I used to subscribe to everything Mike T said, but the last 16 weeks or so I have included a lot of @7 work with 1-3 reps, and I am doing pretty well with it. It's quite a bit heavier than the old Westside articles (I think x3@7 for me is about 82-84% as opposed to 50% to 70%), but not his @8 minimum.
Also, I think that the reason speed work is so effective for multiply guys, is that they are using 50% to 70% of a multi-ply + briefs + wraps or shirted max with straps down or briefs only or with a sling shot, so the intensity is quite a bit higher with that considered. Maybe I've misread the method they use, but it doesn't seem to be as "light and speedy" as it's made to sound.

Speed work for raw athletes can be useful
However you need to differentiate as percentages for speed work with raw athletes are VERY different than what traditional (geared) westside workouts would dictate.
1-3 reps at anything 70-80% imo is a great place to work on speed strength.Picking things up and putting them down since '09

I love speed work
I apply it to all of my lifts but find it particularly useful for deadliftTraining log: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=165829701

So Elite gave me the refund, which is awesome.
Are SBD's worth getting if I already have Rehbands? I will say a light wrap gives me zero knee pain vs slight knee pain no matter what happens with Rehbands (dunno how much more supportive/tight SBD's are than Rehbands). If I can get the same carryover and knee-pain-relief with SBD's, then I'll grab a pair.Best lifts in Compeition 560/350/650 and a 1560 total @ 290lbs

I used to pull slow as hell on everything but probably around a little over a year ago I started consciously pulling all my warmups as fast as possible (like speed work) like the lillebridges, rubish and hickson all recommend, and it's a night and day difference. Everyone tells me how explosive of a puller I am now which I never thought I'd hear.
Might not be speed work in the traditional sense but I would recommend it to anyone."Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!"

After seeing a hard workout you may want to complain and want others to pity you for the work you have to do. Your mom will pity you. Your girl will pity you. I may pity you, but your competition will not pity you. They will step on you, walk over you and spit on you. Boris Sheiko

Anyone have any sleeping aids they like to use? Tried melatonin before with mixed results, but the past week or so it seems like I'll wake up at 4 AM and just never go back to sleep.

It started for me when I was coming back from surgery last year. I couldn't pull heavy so I just worked on technique and speed for 6 weeks or so. I PR'd the first time I tried a heavy pull after that
I have been using that same method since then and PR every time I put some real weight on the barTraining log: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=165829701
