eh I'd say the supinator is the primary supinator and that biceps is more an accessory for supination from my studies. anyway I just look at it like, if the movement was just doing the same thing as benching ( extension and pronation) and someone was getting elbow pain from that, doing the same modalities more(as in doing the pushdowns with a pronated grip)would just be more wear and tear in my opinion. I think developing the supinator could help in relieving any pain from an overdevelopment of the various pronators( there's 4-5 if I remember right). Just my take. I'd be curious to hear someone's take that is actually knowledgeable about bio-mechanics, because that definitely isn't me.

so much fkn this, squatting is the only lift that matters the other 2 are stupid...
on the topic of push pull totals though, I was talkin to budreiser a while ago about who would have the best push pull total, and I think it's a pretty interesting thing to think about.
I might be wrong but I think Kirill holds the raw push pull record at 1521 with like 700 / 821. I think Bill Kazmaier woulda done damn well, he deadlifted 886.7 and hit that 661 bench (both raw, seperate competitions) which gives him a combined total of 1547 which is better than Kirills.
Any of the huge deadlifters would do well in this too really. A guy like Benni, or Andy Bolton, who can pull over 900 would "only" need a 600lb bench to hit 1500.YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/user/NorthStrongSC

You guys are reading way too much into this. It's not meant to be a 'workout'. It's to increase blood flow and work the tendons through high volume. High intensity, low volume is not good for your joints/tendons. I've read a couple sources in the past stating that tendons require much higher volume to grow/strengthen.

Tell them there's a good chance there will be a lot of misloads and judges who don't know their head from a hole in the ground.
I spotted and loaded at Worlds two years ago and I've never seen so many misloads in my life. We as the loaders made no misloads or errors on our own. We loaded what we were told, but many times we were told incorrectly. Some of the time the expediter put the wrong # down, some of the time what the expediter said was misinterpreted, etc etc. However, more often than not the lifter ended up lifting the weight and was then told it was a misload and that they would have another attempt and if I remember correctly not too many if any of the lifters were successful with their redo. On top of that not on single judge there, nor Paul Bossi himself, knew if a reverse grip bench was allowed. Then to top that off there was a Russian lifter who slept late and missed the 1st two attempts of squats. We (the loaders) were told to intentionally misload weight to stall so this Russian lifter could get a squat in. Most pathetic excuse for a meet I've ever seen in my life.1708 total @220 Raw

I've never really understood the concept of working tendons. I don't see why a tendon gets worked more with higher volume. It seems to me like it would be worked the same way the muscle is worked. I absolutely agree about the blood flow for sure. When you say high volume, do you mean like hypertrophy work? I've seen some people that go past that, like much lighter and higher reps, and I don't really see the reasoning behind that. If we're just talking standard hypertrophy rep schemes, then yeah I agree for sure.

No idea. I feel like this subject has always been rich in bro-science. I don't see why it would be any different than muscle, seeing as they transmit the force of muscle to bone, so anything the muscle does has to go through the tendon. Not sure if growth is the only way to strengthen them, or if there are neural pathways that can be remodeled, like with muscle.

That's probably why he hasn't been posting many vids as of late.
When anyone talks about rpe, Mike is the go-to guy, so just that makes him pretty well known. He represented USA on the world stage in and out of gear for the past 10 years, that's another plus. His lifting technique is pretty "clean" and consistent, so people try to get to that level. Like if someone asks "how do I deadlift" they end up getting linked some vids of Mike pulling. He posts articles that make people question their training. He trains alone and when he was in gear that was interesting to watch. He has a sort of "exotic" training method using his tendo unit which people think is cool too.
And I think, by design or not, he's painted as "anti-Westside Method" so that gets people talking. All that combined with coaching and his books/DVDs/seminars makes him pretty famous.Last edited by BYOBB; 07-24-2014 at 12:08 AM.

Mike is a really nice guy who contributes a lot of great stuff to the training community.
He's been battling a bunch of injuries lately. I know going into Raw Nats he had a screwed up elbow, glute, and SI joint. He totaled just what he needed to win. I guess you can only hit 2000 raw so many times in a row before your body starts get a little banged up.
He can still hit ~1900 without even trying so I guess he's decent."Nutrition for powerlifting: If you are serious about it, you will eat f*cking everything and get strong as $hit." - HamburgerTrain
