I tried responding on my mobile last night, but my internet connection timed out, my apologies.
I went back and tested where i left off with the barbell and since i was not folding forward as much, i re-tested for doubles and ended up with a 5% gain over where i'd left off a month before for singles. Besides the rack and weights, the SSB is the best equipment investment i have ever made, both monetarily and temporally.
When it comes to training for next year's first meet, i think i'm going to use the SSB a lot more for ME days.

Maybe you should've ordered the right size bruh...
I was on the upper end of one, and the lower of another so I got the bigger ones. My forearms and elbows love me for it though. As much as I like to bench heavy they are life savers for sure. Every time I decide to do a session without them I regret it immediately.More weight is always more impressive... ShortDave

interesting article by Nuckols here:
http://gregnuckols.com/2014/10/15/sq...ee-dominant-3/
Key Points:
1) The origins and insertions of the hamstrings and rectus femoris allow them to extend the hip and knee simultaneously, even though their actions oppose each other.
2) Two joint muscles allow force from single joint muscles to be transmitted to joints they wouldn’t otherwise be able to effect. For example, the rectus femoris allows the glutes to help extend the knee.
3) You can put these principles to work for you by learning the best way to grind through your sticking point on a squat
4) Because two joint muscles transmit force throughout all of your hip and thigh musculature, squats aren’t truly knee or hip dominant, regardless of how they look or what the external torques at the joints are.*Mods/CS will not, nor can they change your username, so don't ask*

I’ll start with the surprising conclusions.
1) the glutes are knee extensors.
2) the quads are hip extensors. My Training Journal: http://tinyurl.com/jasons-journal

Cool article. That grinding technique seems worth trying
One thing I took away was super wide stance squatting using more glutes
Have any of you tried using that as an accessory movement? Might be an interesting experimentTraining log: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=165829701

I replaced my deadlifting with box squats for 4-5 months last year when my back was hurt. They were definitely beneficial but I don't remember focusing on the glutes as much.
I actually just finished a 4 week cycle of one of my accessory movements and I should pick a new one for tonight. I'm going to try super wide stance squats for 4 weeks and see how it plays out. Straight weight, no box, moderate to high repTraining log: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=165829701

Really think the SSB is the key to the wide stance box squats. Keeps you upright more and back tight. Doesn't allow for the cheating or not as much of using upper body momentum to get you off the box. Forces you to use the glutes more.
For assistance work and no box I'd pause them on the bottom. Remove some of the rebound/stretch reflex and use those glutes to hold you in place.
Edit: and just saw the SpaceX opportunity. Kick ass. What kind of work would you be doing?Last edited by Jason2459; 10-15-2014 at 09:20 AM.

Thats awesome. Working on commercial space flight would be really cool. Over the past 5 years I've been working under a NASA contract developing fuel cells and let me tell you, they are hurting. Its sad to see all our work just get tossed aside.
SpaceX is it though. That is the place to be right now. Congrats, and I hope it works out for you.

Sounds like a plan. I'll use the SSB too just for kicks
I have no idea yet. The email said they were interested in my test experience. I have a BSEE and have been working in aviation since I graduated. Mostly systems integration but I did a stint at Sikorsky working on FMS upgrades for the Blackhawk. That seems to be getting the most attention out of anything on my resume latelyTraining log: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=165829701

Just was loling at myself. So I'm sick as fuk, and I think oh **** all these symptoms are like ebola. Then the first thing that pops in my head is...
If I lifted with ebola that would be the most RAWWWWW thing ever. Paul Carter wouldn't have **** on me.
Also did anyone else see Tee cummings 800 walked out commercial gym squat? Tee and I have trained/competed together a bit; he lives not too far away from me. Here is a video of us lifting:
He and I see fairly eye-to-eye on a lot of training stuff. I don't have his uncanny ability of being able to squat @ 95% 3x per week, but he does just basically the big 3 lifts and other straightforward stuff. You may seem him use chains or something if the Westside guys at the local PL gym convince him to do so, but he just loves normal lifting for the most part.
Also, we have in common doing crazy stuff at commercial gyms. The craziest thing I've done is clean 315 with metal plates in a YMCA after not doing cleans for about four years.

600/370/600 - best competition lifts.
