grats to the champ, deserved win, i did not think kai came close. it was clear to me from prejudging and routines that Phil was going to get another easy victory.

Probably the best comment of this entire thread, and what sums up what happened last night.

Theres no consistency in IFBB anymore, because if there was consistency 80% of people who have a clue about bodybuilding could predict the result time in time out, and it wouldn't be entertaining, which wouldn't generate the massive public or TV crowds, which wouldn't generate the massive profit margins. Controversy generates a lot of publicity, they have to keep people guessing as to how they judge the show and what makes a Mr Olympia - now it's becoming more popular and mainstream they need to make it more of a SHOW and not a competition.


There's a lot of stuff being thrown around with people saying condition is awarded heavily over size nowadays - which is true in the Branch/Ramy/Dexter case, but then is totally undermined by who they awarded the Sandow to - Heath looked like **** Friday.

..and just to sum up - F**k Heath.

eh? This is the precise opposite of what went down, EVERYBODY knew exactly who would win before they walked out. The Olympia generates less of a crowd than an English non league game of soccer, and no paying tv audience at all.

i rarely post in IFBB section, and will probably get told to GTFO, but this Olympia will be exactly the same as every Olympia, always loads of anticipation in the build up, gonna be the best battle ever etc etc, people will come in off, the reigning champ will win just like every year, and people deserving higher places will get screwed cos of politics, and you guys will be in here arguing about it

Although I totally thought Kai edged Phil out, the tragedy is not that Phil won but it's that he got perfect scores.

Was telling y'all that Kai blew it since prejudging. He looked better at finals, but it wasn't enough.

Phil earned, yes EARNED, another win but this year's win wasn't that dominant.

As for him getting straight firsts, that's not even the first time such a thing happens. Ronnie's second win at the Olympia in think was one ppl said was like that where he got straight firsts even though a lotta fans felt Flex looked better that year and made it a closer show. Again, could be that most of the judges felt it was close.but that the winner edged out second place, thus straight firsts.

Anyways, after seeing finals, Kai's interview for Fan's choice award, and Phil's post-show interview, I I hope he and Kai really did make their peace with each other. That was a heartfelt moment, IMO, to show that these guys still respect each other.

Lets face it. Kai concentrates mostly on being the athlete, while Phil also concentrates on learning to play the "game", similar to Arnold. Considering that this is Pro bodybuilding which is already basically illegal in nature due to very apparent drug use, and titles are given based on subjective opinions, one can't really fault Phil from pulling out all the tricks and influences to keep his crown.

You're not blind, it's just how you see it. Bodybuilding and fitness competitions are technically nothing but glorified beauty pageants. So much subjectivity in play, including the physiques that are in noticeable degree based on individual genetics, that it's almost laughable that we call it a "sport" and try to apply objective judging, and that we get upset when our subjective opinion doesn't match the subjective opinions of others.

I get carried away like most others but once the contests are over, I'm like "meh"... that's bodybuilding. A laughable sport.

If you expect to watch bodybuilding and fitness competitions and not be upset at the results, you're gonna have a bad time.

Yes I had Phil first from the getgo. I was still rooting for Kai and I actually closed my eyes and crossed my fingers when they announced the winner. I wanted Kai to win bad. Nevertheless, Phil is more pleasing to me. I cant even explain it. I feel like a weirdo since noone else agrees

Jeje you got your opinion i have no problem with it. Its just the same i cheer so much for Phil and i hate Kai, but it was obvious Kai was clear winner, better, bigger, wider, and dominate against my boy Phil.
I cant even explain it.
My boy just messed it big time, imbalance lats, noticiable bigger left arms, no single ABS, pregnant belly, and crossing the line like mad ...
Tho i love Phil you know what ? Kai win 8-9 from 10 poses, kinda same with muscle group.
