Weighing in at 331.6lbs. I guess a pound or so that I didn't lose last week was hiding somewhere. Really happy with with it.

While I also use the nutritional information provided at some restaurants, I'm pretty sure that even at Chili's that you can order a burger and a salad and sort out the general portion sizes.
~ 6oz 80/20 burger meat (cooked)
~ Processed Cheese slice (or two depending on the burger)
~ Bun
~ Lettuce, onion, pickle slices, etc.
It's not like they are deep frying the burgers.. Although now that I think about it, it is probably best not to give them any ideas...

I'd offer a hard earned lesson -- go to what works... ie, go back to the dropped cals.
Also, upping cals for cardio is the classic "eating your exercise calories" which is A Bad Thing (tm). Traditional reasons:
1) Exercise cals are often over-estimated.
2) If you miss any exercise then you lost your deficit / If you drop intensity you lost your deficit.
3) You'd have a larger deficit overall if you did whatever cardio you could handle without increasing eating.
4) Many people suggest saving cardio for when you hit a plateau in your normal deficit.

You must not be counting your calories accurately or aren't logging everything properly.
There's no way a 6'4" guy at 240 pounds will not lose weight on a real 1900 to 2000 calories per day.
If you truly ate 1900 per day, you could probably not move from morning till night and lose weight.Only Those Who Risk Going Too Far Can Possibly Find Out How Far One Can Go

Your metabolism does not get messed up from long term dieting, even doing a PSMF like I am now.
Some metabolic processes are slowed down a bit during prolonged deficits and the loss in bodyweight/muscle can also drop daily BMR as well.
But if you are still consuming less calories than are going out, you will lose weight.
This is the basic law of thermodynamics in the human body. It is impossible not to lose/maintain/gain weight depending upon calories in/out over a period of time.
The problem with the typical "-500" rule is that allows to small of a margin for error in calculating calories and tracking progress.
There is nothing wrong with your metabolism. Depending on time, weight loss stalls aren't uncommon even for 2-3 weeks, especially when only being in a small daily deficit.Only Those Who Risk Going Too Far Can Possibly Find Out How Far One Can Go

The "Jacked up metabolism" or "crashed metabolism" is mostly a Bro science myth.
It takes a LOT to actually force a true metabolic reduction (such as drastic changes your LBM/weight ratio and certain powerful drugs). Most of the time the "jacked up metabolism" is just a case of general lethargy in the individual caused by the (sometimes prolonged) calorie deficiency.
You "feel" run down so you tend to move less, do less, etc. which in turn causes you to burn fewer calories. While "eating back at maintenance for a few weeks" will indeed "fix" it, what it is really fixing is the person's energy stores which in turn brings them back up to their original energy levels and in turn generally gets them moving again albeit at the cost of several weeks setback in their weight loss efforts.
The other solution is to just tough it out, get up and continue being active. Don't let that "five minute break" turn into a fifteen or twenty minute one. Keep to the same activity levels and schedule that you had at the beginning of the diet and *surprise* you go back to burning off fat again.
However, all of that said I do agree that he isn't counting calories accurately. A 240 pound man should lose weight just sitting on the sofa all week if he is just eating 1900 calories a day so there is some degree of error (I'd say by at least 600 calories minimum) in something that he is mis-counting daily.Last edited by Luclin999; 08-22-2014 at 11:57 AM.

99% of all entries on MFP are uploaded by users just like you and me.
Most are accurate and copied directly from the nutrition label.
Some are wildly inaccurate or their macros are highly off despite the calorie number.
MFP entries don't calculate calories based on how much fat, protein, or carbs are entered in the fields.
You could have an item with 50 protein (200 cals), 50 carbs (200 cals), and 10 fat (90 cals), and the person making the entry could type 200 calories and that's what it will show.
If you're not paying attention, you just missed 290 calories when inputting your data.
This is just an example, but you need to read in detail every single entry on both the food you eat and the listing on MFP to make sure all the macros/calories on both are correct.Only Those Who Risk Going Too Far Can Possibly Find Out How Far One Can Go

I dropped ten pounds this summer by eating 1600-1700 calories a day according to MFP counting. I will drop back down to that for a couple of weeks and see what happens.
Thanks NormalMan..... I will see if I can get this calorie thing under control.Last edited by Bluedawgs4; 08-22-2014 at 11:18 AM.

Yep I am cursing this week... 132.4. I gained weight cause I was irresponsible with what I ate. This week I am gonna be super strict with my darn calories.
On the bright side: My thighs have never been this muscular or strong. I have this big chunk of muscle on my quads thats right above both sides of my knees and I just keep flexing it and thinking "oooh this is gonna look so pretty when I lose some weight and you can really see it" lol.The nation-state and society seek to control the body in a myriad of subtle ways, so if you are going to fight for the right to do with your body what you please, why not make it a battleground worth fighting for? ;)

Why do I do this weightlifting thing for the last 34 years with all its ups and downs life has handed me? Because each time I came back stronger. NEVER GIVE UP. Gym life is about more than muscles getting bigger and weights going up. Its wisdom discipline dedication humility you name it.

if you get a burger at a restaurant, you're looking at a general 800 calorie minimum without fries..

If you look around the menu at most chains, they will have "healthier selections" or marked items that are XXX calories or less. If you have your phone, you can usually look up nutrition facts online or use myfitnesspal, which can help you make smarter choices. Just a thought...
