    Post Myth or Fact?

    Hello,

A long time ago I have heard some advice from different coaches, some of them told me some interesting things that I didn't knew before, but now I am not sure if it's nothing more than broscience, so here it goes:

    Are these Myths or Facts?:

    1. Drinking water during a workout is unhealthy for the heart.
    2. You should only drink water 30-45 minutes after workout because it's unhealthy for the heart.
    3. Working out shortly after eating is unhealthy.
    4. Your workout should last no more than and hour. (If natural)
    5. Training to foreign groups of muscles on the same workout hinders gains (Ex. Chest, Tri, in the end calves. Theory goes that blood surges to lower body, calves in this example and loss of pump-blood in the upper body does not fully utilise muscle gains) [This sounds like full broversity]

Call your opinion and explain the science behind it. I want to get facts straight for good.

Those are all facts. Not many things are as unhealthy as water.

If you can't figure out for yourself that that nonsense is simply nonsense, then I'm not sure any amount of detailed explanation is going to help.

I am not a biologist. Several different coaches said the same, so It would be stupid to simply discard their advice. So yeah.

LOL! Ok fair enough, but the idea that water during your workout is unhealthy for your heart is enough silliness it should have sent up a flag, which I guess it did.

If you drink enough water working out or not you could cause a problem, but the amount it takes to induce hyponatremia is very large.

If there's any credible evidence that drinking water and lifting weights is harmful there are going to be millions in gyms around there world hurting themselves, unless of course some colored concoction sold at the supplement store that will make you look like the Hulk if drank while lifting doesn't count!

Your heart is working hard during a workout (I hope so), so introducing liquids to your stomach may be not that natural, if you are running from a saber tooth tiger and drinking water. Instead of bringing flat down comments, present me with some arguments. Thank you.

who told you all that...lordy thats all ridiculous.

Coaches are NOT well versed in weight training, thats not what they train people for on a daily basis. Most of the time coaches arent even that good at training people in the sport they are coaches in. Getting training advice from a coach of a sport is like getting cooking advice from a lunch lady.

As for water, some say drinking ice cold water during your workout isnt good for you. I cant remember why though I think it was the cold water causes constriction of certain organs since your body is hot and your body is shocked from the cold water.

Ingesting simple carbs/sugar right after a workout is great since your insulin levels spike after a workout and staying hydrated at ALL times is good.

Been training 10 years 100% natty and always train 2 hours

Some people train better with food in their stomach right before training. I personally eat 1.5-2 hours before training, I like having an empty stomach. Its not a hard line fact though that one is better then the other. Maybe if your doing purely sprints eating would be dumb.

Im no professional nutritionist or trainer.....or coach so maybe Im wrong.

Number 1 and 2 is a myth.. cause everywhere .. no matter what sport.. drinking water is promoted, but then again, drink in consideration.

    3. when you workout, your body stops digesting. therefore if you have just eaten, u get the cramp feeling on your belly.

    4. this is a myth all the way. probably your coach said this to prevent u from overtraining. there is no "right" amount of time to workout. there are alot of different factors to it, like rest time and blablabla

    5. idk abt this.. never heard of this

I think it can be assumed that most people are not drinking while running that hard. If they are something like choking on the water would be more of a hazard.

    Solid. Thanks man.

Of course I drink water during my workouts, but I limit it to a minimum. Their advice always boggled my mind, that's why I had to get this out of my head. These coaches sometimes can be so full of broscience. I actually heard that people are getting fat to later "Transform" the fat to muscle. I wonder where they got that information.

I drink literally 2 liters of water during my workout. Not on purpose or anything, but because I'm thirsty as ****. My heart has only stopped probably 3-4 times, it always returns to normal levels by the end of the session.

Neither a myth or a fact, because 1 for something to be a myth it has to be a widely held but false idea, and let me tell you, I've never heard of any of the crap you've posted, and 2 those are definitely not facts.

    New title should be..

Bullsh*t or facts, and to which I answer "bullsh*t"

How myth or bulls.hit, it's means the same. False. What does this has to do with anything? It can be called where I am from a myth, since alot of people actually live by it. But thanks. Let's end this thread, I have already got my info.
