I am also taking in lower calories than recommended, staying south of 2k almost every day but trying to keep Protein up.
Are you just listening to your body in terms of workout volume/intensity when matched with extreme calorie deficit?
I read a lot about negatives of too much "exercise" when at extreme deficits, but it seems like as long as you can handle it, you aren't doing harm? Thoughts?

It sort of depends what your goal is. If you just want to lose weight as fast as possible without trying to maintain previous muscle gains, then yeah it's not that bad. Training for a marathon on a bigger deficit probably isn't healthy, but I certainly have enough energy to go jog a mile then lift for 20 minutes.
I haven't logged everything as strictly this weekend but I'm eating around maintenance while at this family function over the weekend.
Here's a smokestack from an old train depot I saw today:

Day 137.
Didn't log today and surely ate way over. Lots of snack food with the family (chips, crackers, various dips, cookies etc). Tomorrow I am going to an early Thanksgiving dinner also, but I am lifting tomorrow with my older brother, which should be fun. Only one more day of eating nonsense on this trip, and I'll be back on a stricter diet on Monday.7/09/14 - 250 lbs

Im a tad hungry now myself since I only had 1350 calories and worked out and did cardio today but its nothing I cant handle but I did less cardio than I used to because of the new health issue. Im still staying positive though and doing what I can to work toward a better physique.

Day 139.
Finally back home after being out of town since Thursday. Had a family reunion of sorts for my younger sister's college graduation. I did not log calories strictly and just ate whatever I wanted, but tried not to go overboard. For instance one afternoon I ate a bunch of crackers with dip and other snack foods, but skipped the pizza and salad that came after. I weighed myself after getting home and am up a pound a half. A good bit of that is likely water weight, and even if not, it is what it is. I've realized that three days is not going to ruin 4 months of work, so long as you have your mind right when coming back to reality.
Several family members commented on my weight loss, which made me feel good, but also a little embarrassing that I got so chubby to begin with.
I did go and lift on Sunday with my older brother though. We paid $10 each for a day pass at this super ratchet gym. The equipment was sort of old and rusty and the configuration made no sense. It's what I imagine working out in a suburban Moscow gym in 1985 was like.
Today I ate just a tick under 2,000 calories.
Breakfast: At the hotel I ate an english muffin from the free continental breakfast in the lobby with a tablespoon of butter and a cup of 2% milk.
Lunch: My wife wanted to eat at a certain cafe before leaving town, so we went for brunch. Here's the residential street that the restaurant was on. It was really cool:
My wife got eggs benedict and shared a sticky bun with the kids. I got a greek omelet with rye bread, grits, and coffee. I also ate at least one piece of my kids' bacon and tasted their pancakes.
On the trip home I ate a handful of Combos pizza crackers. These things taste like Chuck E Cheese's pizza.
Dinner: I ate a quest bar, 2 cubes of cheddar, and three Doritos.
I went and did a quick full body workout after getting home, and I felt real stiff and sore from sitting so long while traveling today.
Here's a picture of the foggy beach from the trip with a creepy giant pipe running along for a dredging project. It made it look like Tijuana or something. BTW, I saw lots of odd uses of quotations on commercial signs while out of town. Like if you were driving around would you want to stop at a place whose sign reads: We have "fresh" seafood!

Day 140.
Ate around 1,800 calories today. Sorta tough getting back on the diet after a free-wheeling weekend to be honest.
Breakfast: DD egg white/veggie flatbread, coffee
Lunch: vanilla almond quest bar
At this point in the day I was driving home from work and was super hungry. There were some Pepperoni Pizza Combos in the center console from the drive home yesterday, so I grabbed a massive handful. Too bad a 1/3 of a cup has 140 calories…which means these things have no nutritional value whatsoever.
For dinner I had baked fish, half a sweet potato, peas, a roll, country crock, and popcorn.
I had a decent upper body workout tonight.
Wish I had something more to say tonight but whatthehell dood.

Omg this is so funny and true. Other weight loss forums floating around the Internet, and sometimes here too, do tend to take on the tenor of an AA meeting - minus the bad ass stories of bad behavior.7/09/14 - 250 lbs

Day 141.
Hallelujah brothers. Let's say a prayer for our national day of gluttony, consumerism, and white conquest.
I worked retail through most of college - a big chunk of that time spent at the flagship Macy's store in an upscale Atlanta mall. Even though I'm a nerdy white dude I was assigned to the Men's Urban department for my tenure and it was pretty fun actually. I met tons of "urban" celebrities: Allen Iverson (when that meant something), T.I., Michael Vick, Randy from American Idol dawg…etc.
But, even though I always had to work on Black Friday, the store was never open on Thanksgiving itself. I find this pretty cruel and a little insane to force these employees, who make close to minimum wage, to cut into their holiday to get trampled at the mall. I swear that most of these shoppers were trained and conditioned early on by participating in Easter egg hunts as children - learning how to channel such frantic angst into fighting the crowd to ensure that you aren't missing out on something. Collateral damage if grandma gets punched out, so long as you get that goddamned juicer for half off.
I even saw in the local paper that some people are already camping out in front of the Best Buy store here…two full days before the "sales" really begin. The amount of dumbassery involved is apparent. Surely, these are the same sort of people who have birthday parties for their kids at McDonald's.
Today I ate around 1,500 calories, not including a few beers that I'm into right now:
Breakfast: two hard boiled eggs with mustard #LivinTheDream
Lunch: Quest bar, half a cup of cottage cheese, handful of my wife's chips
Dinner: veggie burger, piece of baguette, spoon of homemade apple butter, cup of mixed vegetables, sriracha.
Snacks: 5 pieces of gum, half a breadstick.
Took a break from lifting today, will probably go tomorrow morning.
Oh, my wife apparently is making meme's on some phone app now, because she texted me this today - a picture of her XXL size cat and the turkey today:

5/02/15 - 176.2 lbs

Day 142.
I ate like 2,600 calories today and had a decent workout late in the day. Immediately after eating a big Thanksgiving dinner I weighed myself, because I'm a sadist, and was 2 lbs heavier than my most recent weigh-in on here. So, all things considered, I am more or less treading water right now. My new goal is to be under 200 lbs by the new year.
Here are a few photos from today:

Day 143.
I think raw, red onions are my spirit animal. Maybe not mine, but someone else's I'm sure. Diced or chopped they add so much excitement to dishes. I had a salad tonight with pears, Roquefort cheese - which is way funky, but the real star was the red onions. The next time you are about to eat a boring ass turkey sandwich, sprinkle some of these on there and you're guaranteed to go full:
Shazaam motherfuker.
I ate around 1,900 calories today and swung by a local brewery that just opened after getting a haircut. Here is what I picked up:

Day 144.
Welp, today was another crummy day in a string of them lately it seems during this nascent holiday season. I didn't go crazy, but ate a bunch of random snack food at football parties today - crackers, dips, hummus, sausage balls (sausage, cheddar cheese and biscuit mix are the only ingredients...), and had two beer pints. I think I ate slightly over maintenance and didn't drink enough water. Hooray.
I know it's annoying to read these logs when nothing positive seems to be happening, but I haven't given up and have not gotten comfortable eating junk food again. I did go lift tonight after the festivities as well.
If this dude can own an NFL football team, surely I can lose a measly 5 lbs by January 1st and start 2015 below 200 lbs for the first time since 2009...

Day 145.
I read an article in the local paper that 2/3 of the adults in my county are overweight. Looking around, this is probably an under-estimate. Fat people, myself included, are everywhere here. It’s not surprising when taste and price are the driving factor of food choices - not nutritional values. It gets even more confusing with the prevalence of vanity sizing. I bought a pair of jeans that were size 36 that are so baggy I can barely wear them. I then bought some fancy dress pants and a size 36 belt which are both uncomfortably snug.
I did better diet-wise today and am going to keep the ball rolling this week. I ate around 1,500 calories:
Breakfast: 2 hard boiled eggs, one piece of toast, a bite of banana and two “sausage balls” #PaulaDeanRecipe, yellow mustard and a cup of coffee with a splash of milk
Lunch: Quest bar and a half cup of cottage cheese, one bite of my son’s hot dog at Sam’s Club
Dinner: some sort of “healthy” frozen dinner that was labeled as Teriyaki chicken, it tasted like Satan’s flip-flops but was only 270 calories, one bite of red velvet birthday cake
Snacks: 2 slices of roast beef lunch meat, handful of chips
No workout tonight. Not a planned or unplanned rest day, I just didn’t have time.

Quick update tonight. My only Cyber Monday purchase was two boxes of diapers. #Baller
Ate 1,850 calories and walked to the gym tonight for an upper body workout. I would have had a bigger caloric deficit but couldn’t pass up eating one of these tonight:
It was worth it dooood.

Breakfast: scrambled egg, piece of wheat toast, mustard, coke zero
Lunch: quest bar, cottage cheese
Dinner: Turkey Cobb Salad from grocery store, balsamic vinaigrette, baguette, country crock, cup of watermelon
Snacks: two Hershey’s kisses, 4 pepperoncini peppers, slice of roast beef lunch meat.

Day 148.
Still a bit off today for some reason.
Still feeling posi in general about this diet or cut or whatever and ate around 1,700 calories today and drowned a few beers as we speak that are going unlogged.
Breakfast: Wheat toast, scrambled egg, mustard
Lunch: Cottage Cheese, quest bar
Dinner: Veggie chicken burger with buffalo sauce, half a baked potato, cup of green beans, country crock, spoonful of baked beans
Snacks: two handfuls of popcorn, slice of roast beef, protein chips, a mint and a few beers
I would’ve skipped the popcorn but
deal with it dawg.
Oh, here’s a photo from my parent’s house where I grew up - the house that they recently sold. My sister took this one:
