Benefit of split pad opposed to full with ghd?

Just curiosity, I find split pad comfy but people who've used my vulcan ghd seem they would prefer the full

Two words: family jewels. Nome sane?
You need a good rack, a bench, and a 300-lb Olympic weight set. Now, what was your question?

If you're doing an actual GHR on the pad, you shouldn't need a split pad. Your junk should be ahead of the pad in extension. If not, your knees are too low, and you're making the movement much much easier. If you're using it to do back extensions, then yes, you would need the split pad.

Do they hang low? Do they wobble to and frow?

I think the split still helps because no everyone does it the hardest way. Gotta start somewhere & no point in making the start painful.

Raising the front (as well as lowering foot placement) would make it easier without using pad "wrong way". At least that's what I did many years ago.

I used a Legend Pro GHD this past week in a random gym. It had a full pad. I have a split pad at home. It didn't bother the family jewels, which were in front of the pad on the way down. The complaint I did have with it is they didn't pad the inferior edge of the pad on the inside, so everytime I came up, my knees would hit against the wood edge. It was very annoying. I thought it was also annoying that the footplate wasn't adjustable. (don't know why I turned this into a Legend GHD reviw).

I could see a split pad may be helpful for back extensions since you'd hinge at the hip, with your hips already on the pad.

Looks nice but has some major flaws.

I've used a few different GHDs and my experience is that it may take more than one use to like the padding/ construction of each. You just have to get used to how your situated on each type of padding.
