We hear it all the time when watching sports, whether it's a runningback juking out a linebacker to get to the sidelines, a winger plowing into a defenseman, a point guard slashing through the D for a dunk, but the question is what does it mean?
Is it quickness and power? Another word for power? A buzz word?

I'd say a good way to think about explosiveness is your ability to accelerate yourself (say running) and other things (say clean and jerk or shooting a soccer ball, etc.).

Yeah it's the ability to "explode up". Plyometrics can improve your explosiveness

I think the best term would be rate of force development.
