Hey guys my computer has viruses that AVG detected but won't remove for me because they are system files. Just wondering if anyone would know how I could remove them. I don't have another computer with same operating system to copy that system file over to this one. It is running Windows 7 32 bit. The virus pops up several times but is infecting the same system file called rpcss.dll.

1) Burn the AVG rescue CD from http://www.avg.com/us-en/avg-rescue-cd
2) Restart and boot from this CD/DVD
3) Try to scan and fix things from there
I personally believe any infection requires a nuke and reinstall approach, but this is probably your best bet for an easier fix.480s / 370b / 495d / 235 x 2 SOHP

The amount of time you spend trying to figure out what is wrong, you could reinstall windows within 30 minutes and be happy again.
I don't even bother running anti virus anymore actually because reinstalling windows is so fast.
They weren't smart enough to separate their OS files from the rest of their shiit. That's the usual reason. Only time I don't want to reinstall is because I'm afraid itunes will PHUCK me and be like "We changed how itunes worked again and you need xyz files to restore your library. Oh we said those files would automatically be backed up with your actual library? Ya, we assumed you meant backed up like in the itunes folder and not with the rest of your files, oops, there goes your library data!!!!!!"
I dunno why, but ANYTIME I try to restore itunes library something goes terribly wrong .

Your OS is on one Drive/Partition. So your operating system and all of your programs, etc.
Then, your FILES (Music, Movies, Porn, TV, Software Installs (I keep these so it's easy to reinstall all my programs if I get a virus)) are on another Drive/Partition. When you get a virus, you wipe your OS partition and reinstall your OS.
All of your important files are safe though. Only thing you have to do is reinstall your applications. Most people only utilize at MOST 20 applications regularly, not that hard to reinstall all 20. You can be up and running faster than it will take you to run a virus scan, then google the internet and figure out how to fix said virus.
The biggest advice you need though is to eat man..... Just keep eating and don't stop. If you need motivation, get a friend that's a fat girl, then out eat her (don't mix this phrase up. Don't eat her out, out eat her). Once you can accomplish that, then get a fat guy friend and do that. I know getting friends is hard for miscers, but trust me man, big eating+lifting and you'll be a happy person.

I'm setup like this:
C Drive (SSD): Has Windows+Game Installs that's it. At ANY time I can wipe this drive and I've lost nothing of importance (maybe game saves but I can back those up before a wipe)
D Drive: TV Shows
E Drive: Movies
F Drive: More Movies
G Drive: More TV Shows (And my game install files are here so I can install games again)
Then I have another drive that I just leave unplugged that has some more random software, games, porn, music, etc. on it. Don't ever need anything off of it so I just leave it unplugged.
If you only have 1 hard drive though, you can still partition in order to create the appearance of multiple drives.
On my laptop, I have a C Drive and a D Drive partition despite only having one drive. On my C Drive, again ONLY Windows+Programs. D Drive, Music+Downloads. I can wipe the C Drive at any point and be ok, then just reinstall Windows.
Not only is doing this a fast way of clearing your PC of viruses, Windows in general gets slow over time and it's important to wipe it to get yourself back to normal operating speed. I'd recommend a wipe every 1-3 years if for some reason you have ZERO issues ever with your PC. Almost all the reasons I've had for wiping Windows had nothing to do with viruses and everything to do with MS making the GOAT OS possible when it comes to finding mysterious ways to phuck up in which there is no known reason or cure for the error other than a re installation.
Oh, as for reinstalling windows, buy a cheap USB stick. I suggest buying 4 of them, they're useful for other things as well. Use Slickdeals to pick them up extremely cheap. I picked up 4 16 GB ones for under 30 dollars. You can keep Windows Install on one, and Ubuntu quick start (or whatever they call it) on the other. Windows is nice for reinstalling of course. Ubuntu is nice in case your Windows installation completely crashes, but you want to quickly get into your PC and back up your hard drive files.
