yes if we had athletes who were very interested in soccer... or if the mls actually started becoming a big sensation and it became a "watched" sport instead of a "played" sport then we would probably dominate the world.
brb soccer players over 6'5"
brb soccer players running 4+ second forties
brb you stand no chance of 10

This... If people actually cared in the US we would fuk **** up. The thing is every kid in the US plays soccer when he/she is little. By 15 when HS starts no one plays anymore because Baseball and Football are the only thing people care about. If you could make soccer something we care about, we would be pretty fuken good. No one gives a fuk about MLS. I love sports and I couldn't even tell you where the teams are even.
Edit: lmao just saw there is a MLS team in the city I lived in for years. Never knew and never saw anything about it. Such poverty.| ♫Audiophile♫ | To ∞ & → | The Ohio State University Alumni |

lol
Look into muscle fibre types. Fast-twitch v slow-twitch. Football players are explosive and have the muscle fibre distributions ideal for sprinting, jumping and blocking. Soccer has about a 50% aerobic demand... Football has a 0% aerobic demand (or, maybe 5% tops). Different physiological requirements completely.
As for basketball, you could argue that they might translate to soccer. At least basketball has aerobic demands as a sport. Silly to assume that they would automatically be good at a sport that requires different brands of coordination, movements, tactics, etc.

If a nation as large as the US with the resources you have available and the importance you place on sports was really into soccer, then yes you would probably produce a lot of good players. That's just stating the bloody obvious. But you aren't and you don't, so there you go..
But what's with this delusion that being tall and fast would make anyone great at the game?

I think you guys are missing the point....
if soccer was as big here in the states... as it is around the world.... we would be one of the top dawgs...
our country breeds athletes.. you can deny it all you want but take Germany for example... they have three guys over 6'3" and they're vicious
so this whole derp it'd be herrrd to dribble business is idiotic... seriously... if you think because a guy is tall he can't dribble a ball we have nothing to talk about because you're dumb.. sorry.
if a super athlete like julio jones... who was a stud in almost every sport in HS....was trained to play soccer and stuck with it... he would be an ace
but the fact remains, here in the states there's no money in professional sports. till that day it's only a theory or speculation. but i have no doubt in my mind that if we had a history of soccer/football like the rest of the world it'd be no question we would mess everyone up.

lol @ baseball
Nobody under the age of 40 even watches baseball anymore. 3 hour games with no action, 180+ games in a season, only reason it's popular is because geriatric old folk get to sit down with a beer for 4 hours straight every day
Name another sport besides golf that's so easy you can play it everyday at a professional level
