Why is it that some people report that if they are eating the same calories per day and doing IF, they lose more fat than eating 6 meals a day? The Hodge Twins have reported this. Do you think that they were just eating more during the more frequent meal plan?

My guess.... Is that either they're wrong, or it's a self-fulfilling prophecy, where they're doing IF in the first place because they heard it helps them lose fat, and they were doing it at the same time as they were working really hard to lose fat, seeing the results, and giving partial credit where it wasn't due. Maybe. Maybe it does work differently for some people. For me, I tried it when I did a few keto cycles, and it did for me what most people end up saying it does, which was to make me feel physically okay while eating a bunch of fatty meat and fatty fat fats.

Things like leptin and blood sugar (and ketones, too) are affected by fasting. What you eat determines these. What these levels mean for fat loss/body comp is too complex to be able to say IF is better.
Though it does have a small increase in metabolism via increased norepinephrine (Resting energy expenditure in short-term starvation is increased as a result of an increase in serum norepinephrine) (...I can't link) It's like a free EC stack oh and taking drugs fasted increases their efficiency, another way IF could both help and hinder fat loss. It all depends on variables you haven't provided.

Not everyone is the same... so IF may be awesome for one person.. and the next it's not. The nutrition/dieting game in general is just different for everyone... period. Not everyone likes the same foods, some get full from a sandwich, others need to eat eight sandwiches.. I can't figure out why people think that one way will be 100X better than the other.. there obviously isn't a magic diet/pill out there, so stop looking for one.
PS. IMO the Hodge twins are only good for eating up internet bandwidth... time to grow up and get separate lives.Learning something new here every single day... and I'm still not sure if I understand : /
