Will try to get as much options as I can on the poll but would love some input into this.
The general consensus here in the US seems to be American Football but I have a tough time believing that. Most Quarterbacks are not athletic, the linemen (LOL!), and the only ones that are athletic are RBs, TEs, WRs, and DBs but I think someone like Cristiano Ronaldo is an overall better athlete than almost every guy in the entire NFL. Then you have sports like Basketball which IMO produces the best overall athletes.

Has to be mma. People are going to pick there favorite sports obviously. But mma is centered on your own body and making it the best you can in order to defeat another person physicly. They lift, train endurance and they have to perfect the art of mastering the power to eliminate another person. Other sports revolve around mastering more specific skills like sprint running, controlling a stick, skating. your hand eye coordination, throwing an object at the right velocity, angle, getting your timing right on a swing ect. You cant dispute this

El o fukking el at MMA...
I would say American football but the specialization of it brings down the quality of overall athleticism I think (OLinemen, kickers/punters). The skill positions though (WRs, RBs, LBs, etc) are easily in the argument for best athletes.
Adrian Peterson for example is arguably the best athlete in the world (from team sports).
But overall, I'd say basketball followed closely by soccer.

Obviously rugby.
Big, fast, strong, agile, fit and a well rounded skills base.A young bull and an old bull were standing atop a hill looking at a bunch of heifers in a field below.
The young bull says "Let's run down this hill and fuk one of those heifers."
The old bull replies "No. Let's walk down there, and fuk them all."

not sure what you mean - what sport requires the most athletic ability, in one's opinion?
the way you posed it, it's like you're saying if you play a given sport you will become a certain caliber athlete.
based on numbers, soccer probably has the best athletes, because it's played around the world. The person who would be the best hockey player in the world has likely never laced up a pair of skates, because you not only need to live in a cold climate, you need to be fairly well off on top of that - hockey is an expensive sport.
I can play -and have played - just about every major sport, and hockey is by far my favourite. I also think it's a great sport because it requires coordination, speed, endurance, strength, and agility, and mental toughness. Given that it's a contact sport played in short bursts, football players probably require similar skills, although for most players on the field it's a lot more strength & size, and less on the coordination.| MISC KNEEDRAGGER |

I know baseball is one of the most common sports you think of but it should be taken off just for the sake of trying to have a real discussion
Death is impossible for us to fathom: it is so immense, so frightening, that we will do almost anything to avoid thinking about it. Society is organized to make death invisible, to keep it several steps removed. That distance may seem necessary for our comfort, but it comes with a terrible price: the illusion of limitless time, and a consequent lack of seriousness about daily life. We are running away from the one reality that faces us all.
