Funny you didn't rank Switzerland who is 6th and Belgium who is 11th. It's the luck of the draw and at least WON won their matches. In 2006 no one wanted Italy to win because of their boring catenaccio-like football, yet they still won in penalties. No one will remember the path, they will only remember the winner.
That being said, I will go for Germany in the final.
No one in America likes Argentinians and I will not stand for Messi being crowned the GOAT if he wins the World Cup....because if he wins it...everyone can whine all they want but he will be the GOAT.Scrimshaw and Archaeology Crew

Being a Brasil fan, i kinda have to put Garrincha ahead of him too, he carried that 1962 squad to victory
Not to mention Beckenbauer, he's still leagues ahead of Messi for now.
This is kinda like Seleção in 2002. it wasn't a question of which team was going to win, it was which team was going to lose to Brasil.

Messi certainly is not meh but agreed. Argentina have been pretty poor throughout , relying on a favourable draw and moments of individual brilliance. This tends to happen at World Cups though. Some teams just get the luck of the draw and anything can happen in the one off games. Italy had a dream run into the semis in the 06 world cup. The got us in the round of 16 which they had there share of luck with and then a poor Ukraine side in the quarters.

yea, Messi is just meh against 6
(SIX)
man defense, with at least 2 on him every minute. Actually, holded with 2 (at least) leaves someone of his teammates free without a marker, but ...
Anyway, I was rooting for Argentina and I'm really happy, although the match was a disaster. I'm quite positive the Germans would've drawn that too, against the 6 man wall of the ultimate amazing tactician lvg.
It's literally impossible to expect Messi to be the same as he is at Barca, because just try to imagine who could pass him (not to say assist) from this Argentinian team..? He's playing much deeper and he's the main main there.
Holland IMO deserved a WC win because their football history, but to be honest this team was their worse in a decades, as individuals of course. On the other side Messi deserves a shot at the final too, he's been raping records for years now, often compared to the world's greats. It's up to him now, one game, in the heart of the arch-rival, it's as good as it gets.
Lavezzi was really impressive, I always thought of him he's a bit selfish player, based on some PSG games, but against Holland he played entirely for the team, superb effort.communist until you get rich

Good post. His team mates (Aguero, Lavezzi & Di Maria in particular) need to pull their weight on Sunday. Maxi Rodriguez missed a sitter last night after a piece of genius from Messi playing as a winger. Had he scored we'd all be waxing lyrical about Messi's assist and how it won the game. Not his fault Rodriguez is a club footed cunt.

Let's be honest, Germany have been far and away the best team in this tournament overall. And even they haven't been brilliant all the way through. Brazil and Argentina have largely been ****, while Holland was immense in the group stage but ran out of steam come knockout stage. I'll remember France, Columbia and the USA as more entertaining to watch.
Argentina barely beat Iran, a terrible Belgium and Switzerland 1-0. Lucky vs Nigeria and penalties after 0-0 with Holland. How on earth are Argentina there? I have a feeling its going to end up like Greece 2004 and Italy 2006 allover again....Sloots come and go but moms are forever
