I don't really have anything against government employees on an individual basis. It's the system that I take issue with, and the blame for that lies mostly with the ignorance of the public in general. Still, you deserve a good rustle every once in a while.

Seriously though, this place is like Disneyland. It's addictive at times (mostly because the stuff I get to spew on here, would probably get me ex-communicated from my friend's circle in the real world). I'm finding myself getting too into it, and I need to cut back. Request a temp. ban, perhaps?

No not a loner at all, huge circle of friends, wife and kid, hobbies ect...

I only really post when I'm at work, it's a good time killer and can lead to some interesting discussions, reading and learning, one thread can cover everything from philosophy, theology, politics, history, physics, cosmology ect..

But yeah I'd never discuss half the stuff I do here within my circle of friends, I can just imagine the deathly silence I'd be met with sitting down at a table with the boys in the pub and asking what the think about the metaphysical purpose of the theological philosopher Edward Feser's penor!

It's so weird to go through ******** to look up people you went to middle or high school with. Most of the people I knew are now married and have kids, which makes me feel kind of bad. But this one guy in school who bullied me like crazy and made my high school years miserable is now ugly, fat, and apparently lost both his legs. I don't see any reference to military so maybe a car accident. Not that I'd wish even someone that hateful to end up in that position, but makes you think about karma.

C'mon, bro. I've also never understood how people hold such a serious grudge against people for what they did when they were essentially still children. The fact that he lost his legs might be the very reason that he's fat, ugly and especially miserable... What I'm positive about, is that it has absolutely nothing to do with you and he probably hasn't wasted a single solitary thought on you since the day he last saw you.

Any system predicated on faulty "2+2=5" logic is going to fail regardless of who's running the show. Rejecting logic and empiricism for dogma like this is what I criticize, not choice of employment.

Oh yeah, this is so very true! I think the last conversation I had with a friend concerned...leather boots, I think...? As a rule though, I tend not to talk about religion and/or politics with friends. I love them dearly but I'm willing to bet they'd have a completely different opinion to me and we'd end up butting heads. I just wouldn't like to go down that route to be honest, unless its just in passing.
