It has been a common occurrence where someone worries so much about their 40, and tries so hard to improve, that they forget to work at becoming a better football player (or whatever your sport is).

was a 5.1 freshman year ( had it timed for football) and i didn't play football again until senior year (Played basketball all 4 yrs) which it ended up being a 4.6. I did a lot of vertical training for basketball though (jump soles, parachute running, ladders) and that is probably what made my 40 go down so much

I was a good not great track runner in high school, like 11.5 hundred meter times and I think it translated to a 4.57 electronic timed 40.

Translated 40 times???????............in that case, I can run .03 for two yards.......which translates to 4.3.

You cannot convert a 100m time into a 40 yrd time. There is not formula to plug the number into. Plus, with the 100m, you are wearing spikes, and you are on a hard rubber surface. Those are not the conditions you run the 40yrd on.

I meant to say I've had both done. I ran both a 4.58 40 and an 11.5 hundred. Not that I used some converter. Just in case some people wanted a reference point.

BRO, that's hand timed. I'd say at best you run a 4.1, MAYBE a 4.0. It's still a little above average for a high school kid though!

I am usually with you 100% on this type of stuff, but this poster did post his name and 100m PR in his first thread, and it can be verified that a HS Sophomore with that name did run a 10.8 second 100m. It is entirely possible that he has run a legit 4.42. 4.42 is extremely fast at 16, but so is 10.8 in the 100m.

.....and at 5'11 140 he may be too small to play at Alabama. So he may be the rare case to at 5'11 140 to run that fast. As far as for football, what would he run at 5'11 180.......which is about what he would have to be at to play either WR/CB at the D1 level.
