I mean the guy is a power lifter, so I'm sure he knows some good stuff. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.
Regardless, if he wanted to sell me he should dial it down a bit and show me some respect.
I wish I could bench 225x10 though...
Okay, so I'm gonna do some ultra deload on squats and:
> Warm up with the drills he suggested.
> Find some holding-core work to do.
> Switch to a higher-volume squat workout till I fully switch programs.
> Point toe for straight and push hips out, actually confirming that toes are tracking feet.
> Do higher volume squats... like 3x10 until I can get my squats right.Last edited by DAaaMan64; 08-19-2014 at 11:30 AM.

I would still be weary. Sure he's a powerlifter but I don't think that means much.
What is his total?
What is his weakest lift, and how did he approach trying to improve it?
Who has he helped, and what has he helped them do?
That's the biggest question. Any fuktard can take a weak lifter and get him to a 185-225 squat (or we'll say 135 squat for females as I notice that's the common PT target in my gym). That's just cashing in on someone's noob gains.
"oh, I helped this client lose 80lbs"
Great, you took an obese person, threw them on a bike for x amount of hours, told them to not eat this food and that food, and then claimed they lost weight from your irrefutable skills.
I'm not trying to discourage you from hiring this guy, but considering we go to the same franchised gym in nearby areas, I'd just be really weary about dishing $1500 for their help.ig: @monkaycrak

oh fuk dat, I ain't gonna reward him for being a fear mongering douche. Not hired.
I'm just gonna try once again to fix my squats, this just gave me some OK 1-on-1 attention one time for free.

i've always been #teamroundback as far as deadlifts are concerned.
here's me circa 2011
235... big weight lol
(and no it hasn't taken me 3 years to move my 5 rep max 70lbs lol. i took like 9 months off deadlifting summer '12 and didn't deadlift over ~240 for at least 1 yr)
edit: just realized that was beltless. damn. woulda been sweet if i hadn't gotten injured (reracking squat) + hadn't fcked around w/ training all of senior year.

haha cool back story. So do you just like rounding your back? Or was it something you could just not get rid of?
woulda been sweet if i hadn't gotten injured (reracking squat)[/QUOTE
I did this last a little under a year. Went to rack the weight after successful squats. Thought it was good... it wasn't. Started moving out from under the bar and the weight (somewhere in the 400s) fell and bent my upper back into hyper extension. Did not feel good, but luckily it wasn't too serious. 0 time off lifting and I just went lighter on squats/DLs for a few weeks. I dislocated me knee (non-lifting related) and that had me not squatting for a good 2-3 months last winter. It sucked, but I think it was good, because I ended up starting with more machines / alternative movements which made me end up keeping some more non-traditional stuff in my leg workouts (which I think paid off).
Yup. It was lightweight (190 or 200lbs I think), just went to rerack, left side slipped off and took me hunched down with it before I could recover and finally reracked it.
Continued squatting and what not afterwards, competed a couple weeks later but after that had to say bye bye to deadlifts for awhile. I was so mad.
That video is from 3 years ago... lol.

Agreed, yeah it was annoying that he even insisted on critiquing my entire lifting career and diet when I explicitly requested squat help. He even implied a one-size-fits all squat form. da fuq.
Still at least I had someone with experience to observe my squats. He's at least right about bar position.
Though I practiced later with the adjusted bar position and just lost it. Need to start over, and get my confidence back on this lift. Just starting it has me anxious and one failure is infuriating. I really could use a damn baby sitter to set me up and help me for a few sessions.SF Bay Area Crew

Was stoked to try and hit 375 for a triple today on my lower power day, but unfortuantely my knee started KILLING me again on my warmup..so I did heavy deads!
Mind = BLOWN at how big of a difference having chalk makes..
Hitched a bit at the top, but I'll take a +20lb PR after 5 weeks of being in a deficit/dieting.
** All Raw, unbelted with chalk
415 x 3
425 x 3
435 x 3 (all time PR)
455 x 1 (hitched a bit at the top)

I know the feels you're going through right now.
This has happened to me a couple of times. I would say that if you need it, take a bit of time to recover. Blows to the pride can often be quite harsh, but allow you to come back stronger. Have a clear goal in mind, work toward it and you'll make it. While I don't agree on a lot of his points, I'd say that at least you came away with one bit of knowledge about your bar position.
Sometimes you just need to take a breather

haha sick job dude. I need to try out this BTN, I'd like some delt pump.
Alright guys, I did the form outlined in "so you think you can squat" and completed a 3x3 at 155lbs. This is obviously not high enough weight to see anything serious, but I figure I will progress with this form and not ****ing change anything cause that's all I ever do. I can at least do this form in confidence.
3x3 155lbs at 3 different camera angles:
Yeah, it's hard for me to take breaks, I need an intervention or something. I'll try. Thanks for the encouragement.
Yeah as usual fitness industry sucks. They love to hide behind safety.

@Da
As long as your spine and neck have no pain, jsut keep squatting like that. Probably the best squats i've ever seen from you
I probably will. I'm just debating between that and a hammer strength machine at my gym that also seems really nice for long ass arms lol.ig: @monkaycrak

Will do bub. thanks for your patience with my squats.
So annoying coincidence. after completing that 5x5 on Front Squats yesterday with my toes pointed where the PT wanted me to my knee was burning a few hours later. Damn I'm gullible. I'm pointing my knees where they are comfortable and don't cause pain. **** that guy.SF Bay Area Crew
