I seem to have a problem with high protein consumption. Whenever I get my bw x 1 (150g), I feel very tired and have problems thinking, depressed, and great difficulties falling asleep. In general unwell.
I looked something up completely by accident, hepatic encephalopathy. Some symptoms seem familiar
-Changes in thinking, Confusion, Mental fogginess, mood changes, Poor concentration
For me, these tend to be acute, and clear up eventually.
I also have IBS and carbs generally cause me problems, so I try to go with higher protein as it doesn't upset the stomach, but it seems to cause other issues like this.
Anyone else experience this? I noticed my list enzymes were typically elevated, either just within or just outside of the range. My doctor doesn't seem concerned, and if I tell him I experience this when on high protein, I imagine he will just say to cut back on the protein. In which case recovery suffers and IBS worsens...
Thoughts?
Thinking of l citrulline, arginine and Ornithine, milk thistle for liver support?

Anyone have issues with "high" protein? Liver, fatigue, etc?
No mater what the issue is, someone will always find a way to take it too seriously

This is confusing because it could be caused by a large number of things. You didn't mention if you are doing keto, which you might be since your body doesn't seem to like carbs. Being tired/exhausted is common on keto, especially if not getting enough fat. Are you getting enough fat?
What are your total calories per day at?
What are you allowed to eat/what can't you eat?
Are you worried that some of the protein isn't being digested? Not sure why you mention liver support.
Are you getting enough vitamins? I'm guessing you can't get enough from whole foods with your IBS.May 3 - 183 ; May 10 - 181; May 17 - 181; May 24 - 181; May 30 - 178.5 ; Jun 7 - 176.5; Jun 14 - 174.5; Jun 20 - 173;

My doctor is ****, so no point seeing him. In Canada healthcare is crap compared to USA, from my experience anyway, no matter what says. My AST/ALT were elevated above the reference range quite a # of times, he didn't care about that. If I ask if it's because I'm eating too much protein, he'll refer me to the food hexagon or whatever shape they have now.
0.6 g/lb? I checked every thread on here, with most discussions revolving around whether doing 2g/lb is better than 1g, lol. I tried reducing PRO, but then I feel more muscle soreness, so I'm guessing I don't get enough.
I'm 6' 155lb ~9% shooting for 2000-2300 cals (mtce) 70g F, 200-250g C, 125-175g P. When I get more than 1g/lb, that's when weird stuff happens. In terms of diet, mostly carbs and stuff with fibre that's causing the problems, so I'm doing something like the FODMAP diet.

That's nonsense, especially when bulking. See here: http://bayesianbodybuilding.com/the-...-bodybuilders/

Not eating enough calories will seriously limit recovery.

Hepatic encephalopathy happens in end stage liver failure when the liver is no longer able to clear ammonia from the blood...ammonia builds up and enters the brain. When this happens people are generally psychotic crazy...they need to be restrained a lot of the time. They are usually jaundice as well. Very very sick people. The only thing that usually helps is a liver transplant.
you do not have this
