The Lakers were the number one seed before Gasol was traded.
Kobe is at worst a top 3 Laker. Please tell your argument West, Baylor, Worthy, Goodrich and Wilt? inb4 he average 50ppg!!
07 finals Parker 24.5 PPG 5 reb 8.3 ast with .595 TS
Manu 17.8 PPG 5.8 reb 3.8 ast .571 TS
and Bruce Bowen one of the GOAT defenders.
Glad to know those players are considered as "role" players.++ Positive Crew ++

Magic, Kareem, Shaq, and West are all obviously > Kobe. West is simply a better player. He has better numbers in every significant statistical category. He was a Finals MVP on a losing team. He has the highest scoring average for a single playoffs. All without a 3pt line.
Baylor was more dominant (as far as stats go) over his competition than Kobe. However, the only ring he earned came at the end of the season in which he retired (so he technically has 0).
Goodrich is a Laker great. Part of a team that won 33 games in a row and a title (but Kobe's success puts him in front). Wilt was great, but his best years were not as a Laker.

Worthy is a HoFer. I said Kobe was ~5th and listed 8 guys. The point was that the franchise has had more than its fair share of great players over the years.
West, as I posted above, is absolutely better than Kobe. He was better compared to his competition at the time and all the metrics are in favor of The Logo over the Mamba.
For example: West had 10 games of 40+ points in just the Finals. Kobe has 11 games of 40+ points in his entire playoff career.

All these statistics you are citing are great and all but have no substance to them. For example, when Kobe has a higher scoring average that usually means other players are not playing well or Kobe is not getting his players involved enough, therefore the team is not as strong. Lebron James did statistically well in the past finals, but was nowhere consistent for all 4 quarters.
Both great players, both had great careers. Don't think West though would have been able to take out the 2008 Spurs in the western conference finals in 5 games and be shooting right in Duncan's face during clutch time. Shaq put him as the number 1 Laker of all time after the 5th ring (Those are Shaq's words, not mine). But Kobe clearly more competitive, better defensive player, clutch, faced tougher competition, 5 championships. Those are the intelligent arguments I would make trying to compare Kobe to someone who played during a different generation rather than look up some meaningless box scores. This is of course not a knock to Mr. West's legacy.

2001 lakers swept the #1 seed spurs, beat the #2 seed spurs 4-1 in 2002, the #3 seed spurs 4-2 in 2004, and the #3 seed spurs again 4-1 in 2008
they've both outplayed each other at several times, but using duncan beating kobe isn't the best example to use for as to why to draft duncan. much better reasons than that, especially when the lakers have dominated the rivalry for the past 14 years

When you earn the nickname "Mr. Clutch" and they use your likeness for the logo, you are probably better than just some boxscore.
I understand its difficult to compare different eras and this only becomes more difficult when discussing it with a bunch of teenagers and 20-somethings that think the NBA didn't exist before Jordan.
