If an employee's tips combined with the employer's direct wages of at least $2.13 an hour do not equal the federal minimum hourly wage, the employer must make up the difference.

Tipping is stupid.
They should just pay a more reasonable wage.
The argument about tipping is stupid as well. The whole tipping scheme just offloads the cost of employees onto consumers and then you all argue and neg each other over it.** Eternal Jimmies Crew **

They tell you not to go out if you don't want to tip. That's fine with me.
You can go to a gas station and get about 15 beers for about maybe $15. Go to a bar and one beer itself costs half of that. Same piss quality, cheap ass beer. Going to bars is already a rip off as it is. I have friends who serve, bartend, etc., and if I explain to them that people are not obligated to tip them then they get mad as ****. It's a fact of life. Not tipping doesn't make someone cheap, rude, etc. Hell, if I get ****ty service, I'll go find the manager and let them know that I'm not paying for ****. I've done it with success more than once.550/385/655, 285 overhead press, 330 push jerk, 250 weighted dip, 190 weighted pull-up, 413.8 max weighted pull-up, 450 front squat, 365 RFESS, 305 x 2 log press, 400 (per arm) farmer's carry, 370 atlas stone, 31 pull-ups at 247.

Bartenders getting butthurt when I dont tip them for opening a dam beer is my tipping pet peeve. I would open it myself if it wasnt illegal for them to give me a closed one. Sure if I order a mixed drink ill tip accordingly depending on how annoying it was to make what I ordered, but in my experiences bartenders are even worse than waiters when it comes to being little biches about tips and having an entitlement complex. No offense to bartenders in here cuz I know a lot of cool ones as well, but some, especially chick bartenders, have this constant attitude unheard of for any other job that makes 10 bucks an hour plus tips......

I don't know why waiters expect tips all the time. You'd think that if someone stiffed them every once in a while you'd just take it on the chin and move on because more often than not you'll still make a good bit more than minimum wage. It's to be expected as an occupational hazard. I can't stand people who lose their chit over the same stuff all the time.

I've worked in a couple restaurants and the whole ****ing with food thing is not common. I never saw it once in the 4 years I worked in the industry.
There are horror stories about it sure, but those people usually end up fired.
The movie "waiting" came out and now idiots assume that's what a restaurant is like. You gonna pull those pistols or whistle Dixie

Yeah weird situation in the states it seemed as though your meant to tip everybody, me and my hombres forgot to tip a taxi driver in Jacksonville and he went a little red with anger, we didn't feel awkward as we were drunk and just walked off laughing while he mumbled something about Limey *******s and drove off.
So let me get this straight, the wage for waiters/waitresses is intentionally low, basically relying on people's generosity/charity to pay the rent?

Youre wrong. I work for an independent living community. They have their own restaurant but the waiters get paid per hour $14 and the elders are not allowed to tip. In fact, if any of the waiters receives a tip they get fired immediately.
Best service ever. Theyre happy all the time and no one has yet complained about them.I got this icebox where my heart used to be
