Animal conciousness/awareness, to what level? Like humans as being really self aware, and animals mainly instinctual.
I know the science on conciousness in general is limited, but what have you noticed in pets that seem like conscious thoughts?
Dogs seem to have a legit sense of humour. I have even seen a cat sperm on itself while lazily laying down.
Serious thread.

in b4 37 pages.
but yeah, animals are self aware and they know whats going on. the only difference between us and them is the depth of their problem solving skills and over all complexity of thought.
i.e. a dog trying to figure out how a car operates is like us trying to figure out the mysteries of the universe. Our minds just cant wrap around it....imnoting

Very interesting topic OP srs
I remember reading awhile ago (not sure source and on phone so fk finding it hehe) about how they teach gorillas sign language, and they can learn it good as **** and people can even ask them questions and they can reply. Which that blew my mind, but with all the gorillas that can use sign language, they have never thought to ask a person a question...Donald Tromp for president crew

Srs my ass
Sorry, a topic widely discussed in bloth neurobiology and philosophy, first REALLY pointed out by René Descartes (famous quote: she wants the D), should not be involved in a post with the words "srs thread" if the reasoning involves subjective personal experiences/interpretations of pets.

I think about this sometimes and I have a hard time comprehending it. Our consciousness is built upon language; I think in English and back when I was trying to learn Spanish I would think in Spanish. How does the consciousness of animals work without language? Do they think in pictures? Do they build a vocabulary for themselves? I have a hard time picturing it.

I don't think humans are completely self aware either, like there is potential that we have limited understanding of their awareness because of our unawareness?
They definitely feel things, like those instinctual things, but I reckon they think about it<--- like I know my dog makes the decision to **** off for hours at the beach because they know I will wait- thinking something like 'I am in trouble but who cares, hmmm maybe soon I am getting hungry'.
Lol, I think therefore I am, bull**** justification for absolving moral concious so one could feel better about banging their mother? It is widely discussed that it is 'not' understood, scientific method is limited ya twist, good reason for further discussion. Repped

My dog does plenty of funny things but not sure that funny=Self aware
For example, he grabs things he's not allowed to and comes and shows them to me so I can follow him and pay attention to him.
He doesnt like it when I talk on the phone, he knows I'm talking to someone else and not paying attention to him, he starts growling and biting my toes. Everytime my phone rings he gets hyper lmao
If he's sleeping next to me and I start tossing and turning, he gets up, looks at me with this "what is wrong with you" look in his face and goes away to lay on his bed lolI got this icebox where my heart used to be

Scientific method concerning a mind as simple as the one of a car or a dog (mentioned often here) is progressed far enough to say, they not aware, they react / unconsciously learn, but there s no decision making aparts from drives/ instincts (dont care what u call it, dependig on ur native language or background, you can just say "everything that s not in words, which leads me to..)
Homo sapiens development of language in order to construct complex thought structure (some even argue u cant think without language), is a **** load better than anything else (dolphins wales, certain apes etc). And if humans are aware, i mean, some aint, are they...

Dolphins and whales are probably the most aware animals out there. They're smart as fk. Brb empathy, saves people from sharks, saves dogs, learns fast and everything else. Scientists even believe they could be as smart or even smarter than us. If they had hands they could probably build an underwater city.
