HS student barred from mentioning Jesus in graduation speech

Brawley Union School District said the references to Jesus and prayer in student Brooks Hamby’s graduation speech were “inappropriate” and violated “prevailing legal standards.” School officials rejected three versions of the young man’s graduation address, and one administrator went so far as to redact every religious reference with a black marker – as if it were some sort of top-secret government document.

The response from the school district read, “The first and second draft speeches proposed oppose government case law and are a violation of the Constitution. The district is advising you that reference to religious content is inappropriate and that the two drafts provided will not be allowed.”

it seems like there can be a fine line between talking about jesus and proselytizing? you can't do the latter bc you're not allowed to brainwash a captive audience with jesus stuff on school property, but the former is allowed bc free speech, and it's up to the school principal to discern which you are doing (lol).

Lol, and social justice dictates that the majority should be shunned while the minority deserves praise, no matter the circumstance. (You see this specifically in multiculturalism. It happens in all different societal and political situations now, and it's ****ing stupid.)

Why? Because the minority is always oppressed in their minds. You think this is about Church and State..it's not, that's just an excuse and a means to an end for a flawed philosophy. This is California, one of the social justice bastions of the US. If this kid was Muslim then it'd be A-OK to thank Muhammed or Allah.
