I wouldn't count much on Winston. He had a good game but we've had many a preseason rushing champ who did nothing in games that count.

They may keep him around cuz we're a bit thin at RB with Hunter and Lattimore hurt but he'll be a weekly inactive if the other guys are healthy(hopefully)

I'd personally rather use the spot for one of the young and promising corners. RBs are much easier to find.

It has to be by Friday. 49ers would have some serious beef if they don't know wtf is going on with a key player before final cuts. It's kind of important to know who they'll have available and when in order to make decisions on who to keep.

LMJ has his issues but Winston was in later in the game so I always find it hard to get excited about the kids who look good late in preseason games.

Random thoughts....


So last season every team expected Kap to be a runner, and next thing you know he put up 415ish yards on greenbay ( he did have a foot injury for most of the season). He didn't really run until late in the season and playoffs. So of course teams didn't practice or expect it (for the most part, and think game planning). Once he did run he went crazy and it beautiful! Of course our passing game wasn't very good either. We all know why that was (70-80% crabtree, boldin, and VD only). But we still won games.

Now we are heading into a new season with a pretty decent looking receiver core. Of course it is preseason but do you think we are holding back like we have in the past. We are a run first team and everyone knows that. I would like to think that they do hold back a bit until late in the season, and make teams have to adjust because of it once we open up the passing game. It would be really cool to see a great passing game. It will open up the field and should help our running game (no more 8 man fronts).

I really don't know what to think of our offense anymore. I don't want to make any comments until we see real games though. My opinions on our offense - passing game specifically have been well documented.

This year will show a lot. No more excuses. WR talent is there. Kaepernick has had enough experience that he should fix his flaws...the question is how the scheme actually plays out.

I can't imagine the team would hold things back in the passing game just to unleash this "monster" in the playoffs like they did with the option when Kap first took over primarily because we'll need our offense to hold their own in case the defense struggles. As much as we want to think we can win without Aldon and Bowman it will certainly put a lot of strain on the defense and we may not be as consistent as we were the last few years. Even then we've struggled somewhat against big passing offenses. Which we face a LOT this season.

The offense really can't hold things back for the playoffs because we have to make the playoffs to hold things back for them. I also don't think this team needs to do that. When this team plays good football they can beat anyone. They don't need the element of surprise to win games, sure it helps but they're good enough to win games provided they don't make it easy for the other teams to plan against.

I can't wait to see how we look vs Dallas tho if we have good results for the offense I hope people relax and remember the start of last year.


Meanwhile...if we struggle vs Dallas on offense then we really have some issues.
