I don't think there is a need for a change in training protocol. Clearly, gains were made and to be honest, it will take another training cycle, maybe two, to be fully back on track.
My concerns are mainly form...I had Ant send me the meet videos in non-youtube format so I can possibly import to coachs eye. If so, I will make videos, talking about what I see and what I would suggest.
Ant has pulled 500 in training, more than once so, why are we not doing that at the meet? To be honest, in this case, I think a small meet got the best of him. From there, I think some changes in squat form and then deadlift form and how it's approached may be the key to hitting that bigger deadlift. I aslo think squat form may even be a detriment to bench. Now, can we simply make changes and it's an automatic fix? Nope, it's not going to be like that. I am going to suggest some small incremental adjustments. There are also some equipment limitations. That's not a bad thing but, we will have to get creative. Until there is a decline bench, pressing power development may be a a challenge. The bicep tendon issue is a concern. So again, we will have to get creative and then not over train the shoulders.
Remember, this method is not to hit an all time pr out of the gate. I am coaching Ant, not for the next meet or two...we are developing a plan that will carry him him to his last meet to get the maximum benefit of training while diminishing the chances of being injured. He has a wife and 2 lovely daughters and Duffin didn't write any million dollar checks at the meet so, we have to keep those things in mind.
Once the video is done, I want to share it with everyone. Perhaps you can send me a video of yours, whomever that may be, I can do a once over on coachs eye to give you my perspective. You have to decide the value of that but, our track record, through 4 sports, even 5-6, has been very , very good. And, Team Ogre is very much a team. We have had excellent results with powerlifting, Strongman, Highland Games, Olympic Weightlifting, football and wrestling. I have even coached a few fighters and even a Playboy model. So, the results speak for themself. Of course, once it's posted, my hope is that it generates alot of positive feedback and learning opportunisties.

Ant -- nice job on the squats man, and the meet in general. No doubt you'll hit that five hundo DL at the next competition again.
Definitely interested in hearing/seeing Wade's take on the meet as well.My log:

Take a look. This is the first one and I apologize for not doing more. Coachs Eye changed things, without an email notice, and it was like feeling my way around...plus learning to save, every format is so different and I'm old.
Please, debate and chat, let's see what we come up with.Squat: 1,040

Get the feet set prior to getting under the bar. Take a look again but, once you have tension int eh bar, head up. Eye straight ahead. I don't like looking down or up and here is why. In your gym, the walls are always the same, you always look at the same spot....when you get to different meet sites, it all changes. At one of the Pro/Ams, the hall was super long and the ceiling way high. Many lifters, the best of the best, and I believe Duffin was at this meet, struggled in the squat. They'd get forward. SO I told some of them, look right over my shoulder. Equilibrium is real and it can be thrown off by a change in space and visually. Straight ahead is always straight ahead. It's always consistent. The weight is going to follow your head.

you will be tighter for it
Learn to feel where you need to be
even looking down, you had a waggle. That's a needed to goal to clean up and conserve every shred and ounce of energy for the lift.
Squats are light today, work with it and see how you feel.

Ill be interested in the DL commentary....I agree the small meet seemed to get the best of Ant. Also, it seems like his starting position seemed high which also uses more back vs more legs/back. Overall, Ant you are making great progress and you should be proud.

I think what might help is starting slightly further away from the bar. I think this will allow me to get more behind the bar the way Wade wants me to.
Thanks a lot as always Andy. I'm happy with how far i've come so far. I still want a lot more though so i'm just going to stay hungry. My training log: https://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=178464441

I remember deads being my best pull...it wasn't long before my squat quickly passed.
My best pull was 340 behind my best squat...I totaled 2,400 so whatever
If one of my lifters has an issue with shoulder being too far over the bar, we do just that, Ant. We set them up a couple of inches away from the bar so they can pull themselves into the bar. I had Wes and Jenn do a video about loading. I will see if I can find it and post.
As for the form, hips are too high. Too much low back and your real bread and butter is the glutes and legs and they get under utililzed in the lift once you get heavy. The form is explosive and looks good and 225-405,. once you get heavy, it slows down and, then we always have to grind. I will go into this more with each video.Squat: 1,040

I saw this video when you posted it. It's funny cause I wanted to make this adjustment but since we were so close to the meet I didn't want to make any changes.
I'm glad you posted this video cause I knew this was something that I needed to make an adjustment. I'm glad it's something as simple as just setting up a bit further back. This is probably a reason why i've had lower back issues with my lower back when it comes to the deadlifts. My training log: https://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=178464441

Just keep in ind, simple does not always equal easy.
I want to make subtle adjustments versus a change and some of these may very well not do what we are looking for. It will take some sessions just to see that. So, it will require patience
By nature of the training and adjustments, it should go well and you should see some more pr's in October.Squat: 1,040
