It seems everyone out there has a youtube channel now in this YOLO generation all claiming to be fitness "experts" far before ever actually accomplishing much in real life....experts used to be those who had worked at their craft for 20+ years and built their reputation before self proclaiming themselves as being "great" Today it seems that one rides off of another off of the next one...collaboration vids...shout out vids yada yada none of them are doing anything new or actually telling anyone anything that has not been said 1000 times already...the pathetic cry for stardom is so obvious.....annoying as fuark and tempted to unsubscribe from about half a dozen channels now to avoid seeing these wanna be superstars in my youtube list.

I have mixed feelings about it myself. On one hand, I like to kill time watching some of these guys as I pick up some new exercises, techniques, tips, mental ques, food recipes, etc. here and there. Different guys have different focuses so I tend to learn a lot of different things. I actually have learned quite a bit from guys like Matt Ogus.
On the other hand, I agree with you. Some of them seem to just find recent topics off these forums then make a video out of it. I guess that is good for some of the younger generation that don't bother reading much and just surf youtube, but personally I like seeing more research, studies, in depth conversation, etc. from people on here like Alan, Pug, etc. But some do seem to just reiterate stuff from other channels and that gets a bit old.There is no spoon.

I'm not really sure what your problem is.
If its just annoyance, don't watch. I agree 99% of the channels are crap anyway. So is 99% of information on the internet about nearly every topic known to humanity. (Yeah i'm exaggerating 99% but you get my point).
Unless they're releasing potentially dangerous advice (ala twins recommending 10% calories to be from fat) I don't see the point in having your panties in a bunch about it.ig: @monkaycrak

The only good thing about all the youtube "fitness" channels is that at least now bbdotcom is no longer the internet site with the dumbest content.
No brain, no gain.

Semi-related; http://gawker.com/the-instant-rise-a...-id-1568369061
On the topic;
I still prefer podcasts to youtube vids. Have yet to subscribe to any fitness related youtube channels. Which ones do you guys listen to?You can't get much done in life if you only work on the days when you feel good.

I've looked at some of them (when one was linked-to in a thread, or whatever), and many are so embarrassingly cringe-worthy due to inaccurate information, off-color language, and/or downright odd production values that I'd never look at them twice. Some that I've seen are like watching an unintentional stand-up comedy act, and some are downright creepy.
I'd think that anyone of professional status, such as Alan, would do himself a disservice to have a youtube channel and thus, by association, be right in there amongst the knuckleheads.No brain, no gain.

nailed it for many of them on there..
well said.....I must be getting old because it seems that the majority of them are early 20s....no real jobs but just video themselves training with each other doing the exact same workouts....eating out at crappy restaurants...hanging off each other's sacks or whit knighting the female versions.....nothing of substance whatsoever!!

When I think of youtube 'fitness' channels, this is what comes to my mind as being typical of the quality of the information provided by most of them:
The airhead in the first vid is either stoned, dumber than a stump, or both, and the bro in the 2nd vid wants to tell us "stuff."Last edited by ironwill2008; 06-03-2014 at 01:01 PM.

I posted mine for some people that kept asking me in this very section a few years back...one quick glance at mine and you can tell it is a simple record of some of my better lifts....I dont speak or even show my face on my vids...never mind meeting up with other youtube fitness wannabee celebs and hitting the gymz, dennys etc. etc.
I have been training and competing since before most of these YOLOs were even born and I still dont consider myself an expert enough to start a channel telling others how it should be done.
